Toronto Vita on the Lake | 177.08m | 53s | Mattamy Homes | Graziani + Corazza

Wow. This thread is an interesting read.

I do think it's a bit weird that better transit options are not being looked into faster here.

I agree. The transit infrastructure leading in and out of parklawn/lakeshore has remained pretty well the same since all the condos went up. I live on marine parade and takes me about 25 mins from my door to the Gardiner exit on a bad day. The eastbound lakeshore at parklawn is a nightmare.

That said, it's a fantastic area to live in and I make very good use of the Martin Goodman trail.

Recently the city has commissioned a consultant to study the parklawn/lakeshore traffic and provide solutions. We will see what they have come up with soon.

I'm not sure this is the final rendering, but I believe it's the (much simpler) final design:

yea !! another exciting glass box with wrap around balconies !! woo hoo

From that potential final rendering, this one looks like it's going to be dreadful. Probably on par with how bad the Westlake towers are.

I believe a number of UT articles are effectively revenue generating marketing editorials nowadays

An article where the title starts with "Introducing" and included in the Real Estate section is pretty clearly telling you exactly what the first paragraph says: here comes a condo marketing launch.

Sorry I must've not realized I clicked on Buzzbuzzhomes or whatnot..

Designed by Graziani + Corazza Architects, the project includes a five-storey base broken up into multiple volumes, framed by ground-level landscaping designed by gh3. Above the podium, the vertically-extruded tower uses dark-tinted glazing and white underpainting on the wraparound balconies to create a simple, elegant structure.

Should read:

"Above the podium, the inappropriately scaled tower uses cheap window wall and dark spandrel hidden behind vaguely opaque, poorly executed wraparound balconies to create a dumbed down, hulking mass that could've been designed by throwing crayons onto a wall"

Should add:

"Even though Mattamy/Biddington has engaged the creativity-deficient G+C architects, they also saw fit to remove any architectural flourishes in order to present us with exactly what is wrong in Toronto's development industry."
