Rob Ford's Toronto

Well, I think most of us have already accepted it as a fact, and the anti-ford crowd doesn't really need the video to 'dislike' him more. This is simply a twisted and quite frankly, petty and childish process to somehow vindicate a bunch of very small minded people.
So that's why I think paying 200k, or whatever sum of money to a bunch of lowly thugs that will use those resources to further crime is poor judgment by most of those individuals.

We're buying information is the vain hope that Ford's idiotic supporters will be swayed from their steadfast support of this lunatic. Given how Ford's supporters tend to react to information, it's not a great plan. But what more can we do, short of actually rounding up a lynch mob?

Devil's advocate - let's say we pay this drug dealer the 200K and he goes and buys a bad load of heroin and a bunch of people OD? Or buys a shipment of guns which are traced to the killings of innocent civilians during a gang shootout. It might be tough to track the direct relation of the two, but when you think of it in this light it's hard to justify paying drug dealers. Everyone's saying it's for the greater good. But what if the cost is 200K plus 1 innocent civilian's death? Is that still worth it?

It's useless to speculate. One could even theorize that giving them money could lead to less of struggle for turf and therefore less violence. Maybe a few guys will use it to buy houses and cars. No one knows, so try not to think about it. And what about what the government does with your money?

It's not to give the "anti-Ford crowd" a reason to dislike him. It's to obtain evidence that will confirm whether our Mayor smokes crack.

A lot slower than yesterday. Unless there are couple of whopping donations and a big push on Monday, I don't see it happening.

My thoughts as well. Unless that one person or Gawker tops it off, I see this struggling in its last days.

Ideally it should be past $150,000 at this point.

We need $14,000 a day at this point. That's not a huge amount. Also, as MetroMan said, you can be sure that once this thing gets within shooting distance, you're going to see a lot of people who have already donated, and who are invested in this, redouble their efforts with further donations.

Mark Towhey done as chief of staff of Rob Ford. He says he did not resign

"I am no longer the chief of staff. I did not resign" said Towhey as he was escorted out of city hall by security.

What?! This is truly ****ed up. Did he ended up being a sacrificial lamb? Decoy? A bad argument?

You need to review your math. 5 days remaining (including today) means that $14,000 per day will push it over the top. We started the day with $130,000 so $144,000 today would be enough, It's only 2pm and it's already at $137,000. It could easily hit $150,000 today.

Put it another way, the minimum per hour to reach the goal is $600. It's been doing that over night and well over $1000 per hour since this morning. Right now it's accelerating to $2,000 per hour.

Unless there's some dramatic shift (Ford admits to it) or major news that totally blanks this out of the picture (doubt it), it's on target to hitting $200,000 sometime around Saturday dinner time with 2 days to spare.

How does Ford (Rob and/or Doug) think firing Towhey will help anything? I bet he told Rob to 'fess up and/or resign, and he got the boot.

I can see gawker pony'ing up an extra $10,000 at least. There's also the other crowd-funding campaign that's raised $2500. Looks like we could get to $140-145K by end of the day. I think we should be fine.

Once this hits $175K I'd say its a done deal, in my opinion.

Pretty impressive that Ford has managed to find major efficiencies in his office even as he faces serious allegations.

Ouch.
