Bringing nature and the city together for a transit-oriented lifestyle surrounded by greenery at Leslie Street and Sheppard Avenue East, The Residences at Central Park, designed by Core Architects for Amexon Development Corporation, is poised to benefit from the evolving urban mobility in Toronto’s north. Just steps away from both Leslie subway station and the relocated Oriole GO station site, a potential Sheppard Subway Extension could expand transportation options even further.

Nestled at the east end of the Bayview Village neighbourhood, The Residences at Central Park will enjoy a spacious 12-acre, masterplanned community that combines residential, commercial, and public spaces. Adjacent to the Don River ravine and walking trails, this ambitious development features five buildings from 12 to 31 storeys, collectively housing 1,478 residential units. Ashling Evans, General Manager of Real Estate at Amexon, highlights the communal nature of the site and its proximity to transit: “Three of Central Park’s four towers are built above an extensive shared podium. The podium includes a promenade where residents are steps away from the subway and GO station, while it also fronts Central Park Common — the urban park at the heart of the community.”

Central Park's adjacency to Leslie subway and Oriole GO stations — at the southwest corner of the site — will provide residents with quick access to the TTC’s Sheppard Line 4 and the Richmond Hill GO line, facilitating quick and easy travel across the Greater Toronto Area. Amexon aims to appeal to those seeking a green living environment along with the urban convenience of rapid access to downtown and beyond.

The Sheppard Subway Extension, once greenlighted, would promise to significantly boost transit accessibility to The Residences at Central Park. Metrolinx recently advanced through a second round of consultations, and the concepts to extend line 4 encompass a variety of possibilities. Among these, Concept 2B, below, contemplates both westward and eastward extensions, and in this case a new eastern terminus at Scarborough Centre has enjoyed particular public popularity for its major destination and connections to further transit services.

With Central Park just three stops east of Sheppard-Yonge station, and linking Line 4 with the Line 2 Scarborough Subway Extension, residents would have an even more cohesive rapid transit network across North York, Scarborough, and via Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown LRT or Finch West Line 6 LRT, to Etobicoke. By allowing rapid cross-town travel without the need to travel through downtown, residents would benefit from fewer transfers and reduced travel time to much of the city.

Should Concept 2B be approved, the broader implications of the Sheppard Subway Extension include synergies with other major transit projects like the Durham Scarborough Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) and the prospective Eglinton East Light Rail Transit (LRT). Such plans would further solidify Central Park as a highly accessible and desirable living destination in the city.

Amexon’s vision is rooted in the concept of transit-oriented living, aiming to bring together convenience, accessibility, and urban design. Evans emphasizes this vision, noting, "We took lots of time and care at the planning stage to ensure the infrastructure would elevate the lifestyle potential of Central Park.” From the expanding TTC lines to GO Transit's extensive network, Amexon aims to deliver a transit-oriented community connected to both the urban and natural worlds.
