Next Mayor of Toronto?

As many of us had predicted, if Rossi doesn't quit, his supporters will quit for him:

Rocco Rossi's advisers look for an exit

“After Sarah quit, the question was asked, ‘Rocco, are you in this to the end?’ It’s a natural question from people busting their tails day in and day out, but I assured them I am in this until the end,†he said, adding internal research suggests some Thomson voters are swinging his way.
Let's see if he turns out to be Fraud #2.

Don't be ridiculous. I'm clearly saying they BOTH are.

you weren't clear at all. i was talking about thomson and that is what you replied to.

I like the "Nader effect" cited in this morning's Star, so naturally I prefer that Rossi stay in the race. In a prior post I had Rossi and Ford splitting the "idiot vote", and that's a perfect storm for both of those candidates.

Together, presently, they're paving the way for someone with a brain to be elected Mayor.

BTW, I am thinking that both Rossi and Pantalone will quit the race inside of the next 1 1/2 weeks. In short we are in for a Smitherman-Ford showdown.

Yeah, neither of them have the brain to spend $1 billion quickly. Ford couldn't even figure out how to spend $53,000. How can we trust him to spend $9 billion taxpayer money?

Naaah. I'm having none of your argument.

Neither Ford nor Rossi appear to have the ability to learn from their errors. At least Smitherman admits to have been chastened by errors he has made, that's where I'd park my confidence.

When was the last time a credible candidate in a Toronto mayoral election dropped out after the cut-off date?

When was the last time we had 5 candidates getting media coverage? This is a fairly unique case, and you're awfully naive to think that all 5 were going to go full bore to the finish line.

"OPA expenses have grown from $14.1 million in 2005 to $79.7 million in 2009 – an increase of 465%. The number of six figure salaries at OPA has skyrocketed from 6 to 75 during that same period – a staggering increase of 1,250%."

The Ontario Power Authority is the eHealth of energy. Ontario families are footing the bill for this waste that is driving up their energy bills.” – Ontario PC Leader Tim Hudak

Now, I don't totally agree with Mr. Hudak. However, I don't think Mr. Smitherman (or the liberal government in general) learned anything.

It's one thing to make stupid comments and embarrass oneself, it's another to not treat taxpayer money seriously.

Look at me, I am the Ontario PC party. Watch as I stay in power for most of the twentieth century. Watch as I don't put any money toward expanding or maintaining our power generation network to meet the expanding needs of Ontarians. Now watch as I let some other party get in power and deal with building expensive infrastructure. I'll stand on the sidelines and call them socialists who waste our tax dollars!

Sure that sounds high, but guess what? $99,999 means you don't make the list while $100,000 means you made it. $100k is just a number that people like to use, but it means nothing when you throw out stats like you have. That staggering increase might only be a few percent increase in the overall payroll.

As far as I recall the PC party built Bruce, Darlington, Pickering, during the 20th century. Darlington wasn't completed until 1993, 3 years after the NDP came to power. (construction started in 1981). Surely the cancellation of the second phase of Darlington isn't the fault of the PC party.

Even the Russian judge gave you a good mark for that post.

Oh, well, if all he had to do was admit losing a billion was wrong, then he must be a changed man.

Susan Fish, 1991.
According to WIKI:
Lacking funds, Disero and Fish were forced to drop out before the close of nominations
Fish's name remained on the ballot, as she withdrew after the deadline for nominations had passed.
How do these two statements jive?

Unique, shmique!

What I'm being is awfully principled, not awfully naive. The only reason people are applauding Thomson's fraudulent move to "drop out" (a whole one day after she claimed this!) is because this forum is generally anti-Ford and this move is perceived to damage his chances. Some things are more important than just winning and losing. If others feel differently, so be it.

If Ford were in a different circumstance and dropped out tomorrow, I'd give him the exact same treatment in a heartbeat, but I have no doubt a lot of you would join in and call him a quitter (among other things).

Yes it is! If Matt says it's their fault, then it must be true.

I didn't... say that?

Hydro costs have gone up because of an aggressive target to eliminate the province's coal plants and a tremendous effort to update infrastructure. Is it being done efficiently as it could be? Who knows. But it's not some insidious liberal plot to spend a bunch of money on stuff for no reason.

That is true......but surely the overall payroll numbers must be available somewhere too?
