People are stupid and will sue for anything. It's why they had to put "WARNING THIS BEVERAGE IS HOT" on coffee cups. Someone got scolded, played stupid and claimed she didn't know it was hot.

That case was a lot more complicated than people think, and McDonald's worked hard to unfairly paint it as a frivolous lawsuit. McDonald's served the coffee at an excessive temperature even for hot beverages and know of the dangers. A spill of hot coffee shouldn't cause third-degree burns. The victim sued only for $20,000 of medical expenses but the court awarded her much more than that.

The plans suggest both Bay and York moats will be half covered, from the stairs over.

Thanks! That works for me. It just would have looked weird if there was an open air plaza for that ~50m at the intersection of all of those doorways/stairs. The fact that the stairs leading up to Front St have their doors to the moat down and to the left (if going down the stairs) instead of right at the bottom of the stairs doesn't really make much of a difference.

Your diagram clearly show that the moats will almost reach the York teamway, and will perfectly reach the Bay teamway.
You can also see the support beam bases have (mostly) been installed for both east and west moat covers - they appear to provide adequate cover - though are open on the sides as noted earlier. (Only the moats on Front Street are fully enclosed.)

I think by half covered, they mean half covering the sidewalk (not going all the way to the edge of the road).

Looking towards area under Via Concourse from York Concourse:

We should make all of the passages under the rail like this, almost like an extension of the PATH with useful services and shops tucked in. It would really help reduce the psychological barrier of the rail corridor.

Saw this in Union at around 630 am. I wonder how many people will actually shop there given their price point and the clientele passing through the station?

This is clearly a pop-up and connected to the 'exhibit' on Sir John a MacDonald plaza immediately in front of Union Station. This is sponsored by Louis Vuitton and associated companies.
