How is this good news .....

Looking over 400K of office space, that'll surely NEVER be replaced ... there has not been a single new square feet of office space built in this area in a decade+

400K can house at least 2000 workers.

The tower looks great, but aA's podiums may be declining into the cold, overly repetitive and sterile treatment of the street that plagued so many Modern buildings from the 1950s-1970s. It started with 4S. Here, we see big blank walls by the street, with large anonymous panes of glass and a completely anonymous second floor. Lots of street frontage is wasted for dead zones. There's too much repetition for a fairly large block. It's boring to walk by buildings like this one.

hmm on the previous page, back in May:

THE CONSENT REQUESTED:
To obtain consent to sever the property into two lots.
Conveyed -Parts 1, 2, 28 & 42 on Reference Plan 66R -24268 Address to be assigned
The lot frontage is 39.64 m and the lot area is 1,771.42 m². The existing 34-storey commercial office building will be maintained.

Yes, I saw that also taal. That would be a good thing.

A quick glance at the renders and it appears the east tower could be around 1000' tall. Looks to be about 150' taller, or thereabouts, than 1 Bloor.

I took a really close look at the render ... without a doubt it illustrates the office building being replaced, there is no way it works out otherwise.

One thing two keep in mind though, the second condo, not the one at Yonge and Bloor, will be smack behind the holt renfrew tower.

Anyway, here's to hoping they leave the office building alone ... or ... replace all the space.

Taal, the Bay & Cumberland tower appears to be positioned directly south of Minto's Yorkville Plaza towers, and northwest of the Holts 50 Bloor West tower. That would put the Bay & Cumberland tower north of the 8th storey outdoor garden at Holts.

Regarding the replacement of the office tower, keep in mind that we know very little about this proposal at this point, and the City will have something to say about that.

Regarding the podium and street realm, keep in mind that the Planning Department and the Design Review Panel will each have a lot to say about that, and that would include the proposed path through the mid-block heading up to the Yorkville Firehall tower.
