The only thing that could perhaps shock Ford Nation would be for the brothers to be dragged out of City Hall in handcuffs. Then again, they might still support them even then.
 
The two times I've encountered the Chief, once was in uniform. I don't think he carries a firearm when in uniform...the 2nd time was at his son's house party, and if he was carrying a firearm then it wasn't discernible. He did, however, have an escort in an unmarked black SUV following his car. Safest house party I've ever been to (also only about five blocks from 14 Div at the time).

I am new to this Forum, and the first thing I saw were these wonderful questions posted in 2007. So, pretending to be a time traveler going back to 2007: No, Luminato and Nuit Blanche will not cut by the City. (However, it will be prefixed "Scotiabank" Nuit Blanche.) Development will NOT stall. Yes, Transit City will be cut at enormous cost. Services will be reduced or get user fees.

And oh yes, the Mayor will turn out to miss work frequently, deepen his addiction to alcohol; he will drive drunk frequently, and will be obviously drunk or stoned at public events as well as at City Hall several times. He will be accused of grabbing a female politician's rear end. He will be asked to leave a fashionable ball. He will get addicted to cocaine, be filmed doing drugs, and the video will go on the market for hundreds of thousands.... after the making of the video, one of his crack-smoking associates will be fatally shot, the man who filmed him and tried to sell it will be stabbed in jail, with two other shootings at least, and a man will be hurled off a 6th floor balcony in Alberta. Those convicted in the fatal shooting will cut a deal with the Crown to keep evidence out of the public record. The Mayor himself will order people thrown off TTC buses into the rain so that his football team can get a ride home, he will be charged with conflict of interest for soliciting money for that team, and he will eventually be fired from coaching that team. He will scream at 911 dispatchers, physically attack a Toronto Star reporter... he will lie to Torontonians about drugs many times, then confess that he did smoke cocaine in a drunken stupor. He will be loved all the more. He will hire a man convicted of assaulting and threatening death to women, and a man with a violent criminal record to take over coaching his team, and others to chase down the video of his using drugs. He will write a recommendation for a murderer. He will pay the bills at a crack house and later, his friends who live in the house will be assaulted in a home invasion after failing to produce the video. Somewhere in there, Doug Ford will be accused of having been the biggest hash dealer in Etobicoke in the 80s. His drug enforcer will be hired as head of logistics for the Mayor. Doug will call for the police chief to resign after the the Chief admits that the police have the crack video. After saying, "Folks, I have nothing left to hide," the Mayor will be seen all over the world high on a stimulant threatening to commit first degree murder and saying that he is a sick motherfucker. Toronto will become more famous for its Mayor than for anything else and will be on every US late night comedy show.

Just kidding! Everything will be fine!

It would be good to have an update on all his transgressions and crimes every ten pages or so. That way we won't get lost in the current debacle and remember there is a pattern here of absolute disrespect.

RE Doug Ford - I noticed in a video clip from one of the news sites yesterday that he looked a little embarrassed/concerned/sheepish/worried. Can't quite put my finger on the emotion but it wasn't the cocky derisive arrogance that we usually see. I believe the journalist referred to him as being "uncharacteristically subdued". Now I'm wondering if (and how!) that ties into Soimelk's assertion that today may not be a great day to be Doug Ford.

But could the BEST day for everyone else... how awesome would it be if the transcripts revealed that counter to the whole "Doug was completely unaware" bullshit narrative, he was directly involved in efforts to locate the video? Would be pretty sweet to see that balloon popped for good, and the aftermath.

I suspect Chief Blair has nothing to fear from the mafia and likewise the mafia has nothing to fear from Chief Blair. They probably have a very good "working relationship".

Just to point out, from what I've read about the mafia in terms of hits... "no kids, no cops". I don't know too much about gangs but I think most of whatever is being posted about cops having to worry about people coming after them is nonsense.

Doug Ford seems to me like the kind of man who could be dragged away in handcuffs, sent to prison for quite a while, and still believe with absolute certainty that he will be Premier in time. I'm struggling to imagine anything which would leave him "uncharacteristically subdued", but as it can't be "shame" or "conscience", my money is on "amoebic dysentry".

So when will Rob Ford completely go the way of Congressman Peter Russo? It might be the only way to get rid of him.
