Rob Ford could say some braindead things when sober. What he could potentially say if he was on crack is wide open to speculation.

Watching the casino debate in Council, Ford stood and gave his speech an hour or so ago and was unable to handle more than a brief sentence without a 5 second break in between each. He's in rough shape today, rougher than usual.

Yes, definitely rough shape--the scary thing is he still drives himself back and forth to work. Accident/lawsuit/death waiting to happen.

"He's like the embarrassing guest at a family christmas party" - which is less of a shot than it is just an analogy... but it's interesting to hear his take.
Also - "I wouldn't get into the business of joining an auction for a video that purports something against someone who deserves the benefit of the doubt" - not sure if Ford deserves the benefit of the doubt, but he's completely right and that's exactly why no respectable news outlet should (in my view) buy the tape in this circumstance.

Here comes the casino vote(s)! And then - the wild goose chase resumes. Will he stumble? Will he run into a camera? Will he turn beet red and stamp his feet? Will he take off running? Hmmmm...

Rich for a convicted criminal to lecture everyone on the shoulds and shouldn'ts. That said, I do agree that mainstream media should not buy the video - their role is one of witness.

The rate of increase of the Crackstarter fund has dramatically increased today. The most recent $10,000 has taken only 19 hours, compared to 24 and 23 hours the previous two $10,000 increments.

Keep in mind that the increase slows to a near stop at night, in the ten hours from 10PM to 8AM for the last three days, the total amount barely budged. So the time to increase by $10,000 during the other 14 hours of the day, when almost all the donations take place, has gone from 14 hours to 13 hours to 9 hours, a substantial reduction in time.

There is a non-zero chance that the fund will reach $100,000 before the end of today.

Well so far we're averaging $60/minute. Hopefully that will increase on the weekend since more people will be home from work.

The last $10,000 was raised slightly more quickly than the $10,000 before that -- 23hrs as against 24hrs. With any luck, the pace should pick up once people are back at work and Rob Ford has to face the cameras.

I'm very happy with this pace. It's slightly increased over the past few days. We'll have no problems raising the $200,000.

I swear, in the early hours, it was gonna hit $100k by the weekend....the one thing I do know is that, in the early days of this new social tool called group funding, it is impossible to predict how these things will go!

What about when Mayor Lastman shook hands with a member of the Hells Angels? Just a handshake.

My fave new pastime (kinda addicted to it) is not watching the fundraising but, rather, watching the predictions on here about how the fundraising will progress.

I swear, in the early hours, it was gonna hit $100k by the weekend....the one thing I do know is that, in the early days of this new social tool called group funding, it is impossible to predict how these things will go!

Haha! I agree. I stopped making comments when people said "since it did X in Y hours, we'll have no problem hitting the goal." Keep these people away from the stock market! And investing in general...

The ultimate irony is that Ford uses his Bosco Coaching duties as the ultimate trump card when anything related to his job performance or lack of presence at City Hall is questioned. If it weren't for him, those kids would be getting involved in drugs and gangs instead of playing football etc etc.

Now if it turns out that he is a customer for these drug dealers, and by his habits he is supporting and creating a demand for the drugs that find kids in gangs and getting shot... well, the implications of that are crystal clear. I won't say he has blood on his hands for any of the shootings in gangland Toronto, but it certainly makes him the worst kind of hypocrite.

Assuming the video is real and legit, of course...
