it began before the "Official" gawker one. unfortunately it had zero credibility at the beginning and garnered zero interest... it came across as fake at the start, actually, and the big red flag to me was that it was flex-funded... so if the total wasn't raised, this random guy still got all the money. I think he should revise it to say he will donate to Gawker, because that's the best thing he can do right now.

They started theirs first but never explained how they would even get in touch with the person who owns the video. Their goal of $100K shows that they had no idea how to do so. That's why I've thought that it was a scam and whoever donated to them is naïve and probably out of their money for nothing in return.

EDIT: The pace has gone up quite a bit today. In the last 15 minutes, it jumped $1,000 to $95,575. Hitting $100K today is a pretty reasonable expectation. If the $50K donation materializes, it's game over for Rob Ford. Even if it doesn't, there's a very good chance that the campaign will make international news once they've raised $100K and another flood of donations will come in. We can also expect another one once the goal is within sight in the next few days.

EDIT 2: The time it took me to write that, it went up another $500 to $96K. Good bye Rob Ford.

I don't think Rube Fraud is going to say anything publicly until the fate of the video itself is determined, and how damaging is it if it is shown. Of course he knows exactly what's on the video which is why he's not denying anything.

Perhaps Doug has assured his little f*ck up of a brother that there is a plan to acquire and destroy the tape and to keep his pie-hole shut until his mess has been cleaned up.
 
The 100 printed copies of The Little Book of Rob Ford have nearly all been claimed, most of which by an "anonymous" person. I think Rob Ford is trying to buy all those books out of circulation. Oh wait...
 
Today's lack of acknowledgement on Ford's part just confirms that the video is going to have to come out if this is going to go any further. Ford doesn't have the integrity to address the allegations. I have a hard time imagining how it eventually makes it out if it doesn't come via Crackstarter. But I think we'll know for sure either way shortly after the indiegogo campaign expires.

I hadn't heard. Let me try to find out. It sounds like Doug has convinced his brother to go on vacation until 2014...

EDIT 2: He says Ford was considering the advice of his advisors over the weekend and looked like he was actually ok with it and thought it was a good idea. To be honest, I think it's a pretty good strategy myself. If I were his PR and with the very few options available, admitting that the video exists and that he's going to go get help is making the best out of a terrible outlook. But who knows? Ford is not good at taking advice although he seems to listen to Doug and the senior Ford is championing this strategy.
