So what if, as I've always thought would happen, the victim is uncooperative ? How do you convict?

I guess evidence is the bottom line.

There is a similar set of circumstances in L.A. with a hockey player who has been charged with assaulting his wife. She doesn't want to testify and didn't want him charged. Cops followed her for 2 weeks to subpoena her as she also took her daughter out of school. They finally found her at a restaurant and gave her the paper. Nobody knows how it's going to turn out because it's obvious she isn't into cooperating.

There could be several ways. For example, they may have phone records/recordings/text messages/whatever that would suffice, with or without the victim's cooperation. Or the victim may have given a statement to the police which the Crown could apply to get admitted as evidence if he goes offside at the trial. It makes it harder, but not impossible.

I have no idea what Kevin Donovan is or isn't writing, but hasn't it always been the case that he's known more than he's been able to report?

I'm just assuming he has something in the hopper for after the Lisi Trial.

He said during my interview with him he thought stuff would start trickling out about the Windsor break in and 320 Dixon shooting during the court proceedings but I haven't heard anything thus far.

Possible signs of progress at the Sun?

For the first time in a while, Worms wrote about Rob. It isn't anything special though.

For the benefit of those who don't do The Stun, "The Fordman will go from chilling to grilling." is a trademark "huh, is this thing on?" for Worms and meeting the news cycle.

Rob Ford chilling in Jamaica

It is true: That is indeed The Fordman chilling in Jamaica, mon.

Doing some dancing, too.

Yes, for the former Toronto mayor — who has been through a lot of political, personal and health battles — everything is irie.

“We are having a great time here in Montego Bay,†said the city councillor. “It has been especially good for my wife and the kids. It has been six months of hell for them and they needed this.â€

There has been some beach and pool time.

“We have taken some sightseeing trips,†said Ford. “It has been fantastic.â€

And he has received the royal treatment — even being met at the airport by the mayor of Montego Bay, His Worship Glendon Harris.

There will be no jaywalking tickets to the legendary Torontonian there.

“What a great man,†Ford said of the mayor. “When he was in Toronto last year, he invited me to come down.â€

Ford, his wife Renata — and kids, Stephanie and Dougie — went out for dinner with Mayor Harris and his wife, Dr. Angela Samuels Harris.

It has been a nice break for the Fordman. After extensive rounds of chemotherapy for his cancerous tumours and to celebrate the end of radiation treatment, he couldn’t think of a better place to take the family and relax.

“I love Jamaica,†said Ford. “And I absolutely love the Jamaican people. I have many friends at home and people have been so nice to me here.â€

The most common request of the famous former mayor whose crack cocaine admission and eventual rehab are known around the world?

“Do some patois.â€

Even Mayor Harris was encouraging him.

Ford said he has had more than a few requests for a live performance of YouTube patois rant at Steak Queen.

They also want to see him bust some moves like he did to Bob Marley’s, One Love, on the city council floor just before Christmas 2013.

“I hear he’s pretty good,†Harris said of The Fordman’s patois and jamming.

Ford admitted he’s not used having down time.

“I haven’t seen a newspaper and I am itching to make some constituency calls,†he said. So he’s not up to speed on his old pal Sandro Lisi’s court hearings or on the solving of the mystery tunnel builder which has stolen the front pages that he used to occupy.

He has just been getting some rest with his family. The other thing on all of their minds is the news that could be awaiting him when he returns. The results of how much the radiation shrunk the main tumour in his abdomen are expected soon.

“Hopefully it’s small enough so they can try to operate and remove the tumour,†he said.

But that’s for later. Right now, he and the family are enjoying the 30C temperatures, the sunshine and the equally warm Jamaican people.

“He is welcome anytime,†said Mayor Harris. “A lot of people know him here.â€

He will be back home in frigid Toronto in time for next week’s budget debate. Expect to see the fiscal hawk all over that looking for waste and efficiencies.

The Fordman will go from chilling to grilling.
