Rob Ford's Toronto

Menu: Guests said they dined on oysters, grapes, cheese, sandwiches and “BBQ food.” Ward 33 candidate Paul Bell said the Fords “spared no expense” and even had a stone oven hauled into the yard by truck for hand-crafted pizzas to be made.

[...]

Brother Randy’s car was seen parked outside, but guests were unsure if he was in attendance. Those who partied with the Fords said the mayor’s children were also present.

Party's over. Time to clean up and go to bed.

I don't want to sound elitist (Rob forbid), but remember when such events drew people who had some respect? You know, people who weren't dressed like Breaking Bad extras. I do feel sorry for Mikey, who has clearly inherited the Ford physique. At his age, I hope he wakes up before it's too late.

Mikey can loose weight with diet and exercise. If he can afford flying lessons, he can afford a gym membership.

What he did inherit was an executive position and a Ward. If that's not enough for him, he can compete like ( most of ) the rest of us had to for a job in the real world.

"Folks" are asking where the fire truck is. Looks like some parking on the lawn. Not sure if that lawn is public or private property?

"This was what Rob Ford looked like after arriving at City Hall just after 3 o'clock today."

IIRC, the polling that has looked at 2nd choices showed that Ford was not the 2nd choice of those whose 1st choice would be Stintz.

Ford, Chow vie for Stintz's supporters

Asked what he’d say to residents who were planning to vote for Stintz, Ford was blunt.

“Stintz voters obviously know that her and I share the same ideas, again give or take a few issues, the majority of issues we’re on the same page,” he said. “I think they see that and on Oct. 27 I’m very confident they’ll come my way.”

interesting / odd...

“You show me another politician that’ll stand at the front door of his own mother’s house, doing a meet-and-greet for everyone that comes in,” Keith Ford (no relation) told reporters outside. “You’ve got to give him credit for that.”

He said he works for a Toronto business that has had the Fords’ support.

“We opened a Chicago office during the business mission four years ago ... and they invited us and helped launch our Chicago office, which was fantastic,” Keith Ford said, adding the mayor visited their business, Electronics Recycling Services, last week.

“And we’ve had our own battles with the province dealing with certain regulations with our business, and we’ve called him and he’s been right there helping us.”

That's great, Keith. It's too bad none of that is really the job of a mayor. Rob sounds like he would make a terrific business consultant of some sort, though.

+1 !

"You know what this <insert>city/province/state/country</insert> needs? To run this government like a business!!"
<blather> ... apples should be treated like oranges ... </blather> snore .... snore ... rinse ... repeat for 30 years....

My bet is they're just multiplying the Ford's estimate of how many people they would allow in (250) by the cost of entry. I somehow doubt they had a full 250 people there and I doubt everyone there paid up the 300 bucks.

that is what was done, and i doubt both numbers as well.

Just watching Jimmy Fallon, and in the middle of a guessing game the two clues were "Canada and Toronto". Nice to see that Rob Ford is now officially the first thing that comes to anyone's mind when those two words are mentioned.
