They continue to find an infinite list of reasons to shut down Line 1. This is better than the Transitways they tossed out? I know, I know, the Transitway was beyond capacity, until we got so many people to abandon transit because Line 1 has never been reliable in over 5 years of service.
I have lived in many places, including suburban areas like Waterloo and Vaughan, but it is only now living in the centre of Ottawa that I am seriously considering buying a car. And by far the main reason is that I can't count on OC Transpo to get me where I'm going when I need to go there. There have been so many times where a trip is cancelled on a 30-min service, or I stand on the curb for 20+ minutes at a stop that's supposed to have a bus every 4 minutes, and most frustratingly, buses often depart early, which causes passengers to miss the bus and be unable to get to their appointments on time. The following video explains extremely well the mess that Ottawa has created for itself over the last 20 years. Every time I have used OC Transpo in the last few years, I have had complaints about the service.
