A look at the rails on Queen St in Brampton. What's this work that is going on at the site opposite of Queen St where the rails and I believe old CP freight sidings/yard were?

Building things seems to take forever in Ontario. But tearing things up? We're quick at that :-/

In general I'd agree with you, but I'm sure that that diamond costs CN extra money to maintain versus straight rail. Also, like all things construction related, it's only going to cost more to do it later, and they can start saving on special work inspections immediately if they do it now. It's win-win for them to get it out asap.
 
The Parks Department has told me they aren't even remotely considering the possibility of preserving rail capacity along the corridor
So long as they don't build any structures over top the land where the track used to be, then the rail can always return.
