Mayor John Tory's Toronto

A controversial figure who ran as a Toronto mayoral candidate has been ordered to pay more than $43,000 in legal fees to Bell Media after her lawsuit was dismissed by the Ontario Superior Court.

Faith Goldy had sued Bell over its refusal to air her campaign advertisements on a local television station, but the suit was tossed in October. In a decision on Wednesday, Justice Peter Cavanagh ordered Goldy to hand over $43,117.90 to cover Bell’s legal fees.

If you think those are the two most effective councillors we have in the city, i'll really have to start taking everything you say with a grain of salt.
They both know how to aggravate the right people. I prefer that over the quiet do nothing councilors like Paul Ainslie for example.

Goldy was a blip.
It was pretty embarrassing for the media that Goldy never was shown below below third in polling and was still ignored. I doubt the press would be this biased in future.

Interesting. Tory said that if some populist candidate went for it in 2022, he might consider a third term. Does Faith Goldy try again?
If Tory runs again, it will likely be because the smaller council winds up being better and allows him to implement more of his ideas.

I saw this interview and I really don't understand Tory's point. Is there any really populist that would have a chance vs Mike Layton for example? Doug ford realistically isn't going to run because he would have either been forced out by his party or have just lost an election. Michael Ford is too young and does not have the charisma to me mayor either. I really don't think he is talking about Goldy either because any name candidate is favored over her. Like even if she somehow springs to 10% support she cant win an election off that.

Also I don't understand why he is so against a populist candidate anyway. As the former leader of the conservative party he should be more in line with a populist candidate than a socialist one. To me I think he wants to run again and i trying to make some excuse to run again.

This is true however people were also acting absolutely shocked and appalled that she reached 3% vote in the last election, so she did make some level of noise. You could argue that he ceiling is higher than that as well without an incumbent candidate. She is not viable candidate to win though.

For all the criticism that Tory deserves, association with populists is not one.

The Bill Davis conservatives are not the Thug Ford "conservatives". The correct response for a Red Tory is to shun both the populist and the socialist, and it seems like Mayor John Tory in that interview has done exactly so.

I wish I could believe that.

Praising open white supremacists is a good thing?

lol! If Tory can show an improvement of the type you indicate, then there might be a reason to vote for him.

That suit is well, hilarious.
