2022/24 Russian-Ukrainian War

What is remarkable to me is that the Americans are still trying to treat the French and Germans as leaders.
Probably a combination of historical inertia and financial power, especially in Germany's case. The US really ought to be focusing a bit more on Poland at this point, since they are the ones leading the charge. They, and their neighbours in the east, get it because they've all experienced first hand the misery of Russian suppression. The French simply can't relate.

Yes - though as pleasant as it is to jibe at the French and German for their position it is important to note they are also essential in maintaining European stability; nor should one forget that the Polish government have authoritarian tendencies - that if kept unchecked - can easily devolve into something akin to Hungary.

Hungary is a joke at this point - their EU membership should be suspended.

There's a joke going around NATO.

"NATO Secret doesn't mean anything anymore. Because of certain members being Hungary."

PS. When people wonder why Canada values Five Eyes and our relationship to the US so much, this should help provide context.

Can't imagine it will be long now, unless he pulls a Snowden. Maybe he should if he wanted to play pew-pew so much.

I'm a little concerned they won't catch this pipsqueak. Some of those files were on A4 paper. That would imply that he isn't necessarily in North America.

We have names:

The FBI wants to question a member of the Massachusetts Air National Guard in connection with the disclosure of highly classified military documents on the Ukraine war, two people familiar with the investigation said Thursday.

Investigators believe that the guardsman, who specializes in intelligence, led the chat group where the documents were posted, according to the two people, who were not authorized to discuss an ongoing investigation publicly and spoke on condition of anonymity to The Associated Press.

They identified the guardsman as 21-year-old Jack Teixeira of Swansea, Massachusetts.

Though having a 21 yo guardsman handling intelligence of National import? Is that wise? He is barely old enough to drink.

Pretty normal. The military gives a lot of responsibility to young people. He sounds like an intelligence operator. They help actual intelligence officers prepare briefs and write reports. Can't make him draft the PowerPoints without access to the reports.

That said, this is looking a bit extra-curricular. He probably went snooping on the network into folders he shouldn't have.

And.... He's in cuffs:
