What Movies Have You Seen Lately?

Thinks?

Thinks? More like I KNOW!

;)

I think Shrek might be one of the movies playing at "Movies Under the Stars"
on the Civic Square of Mississauag City Hall this summer.

The Gingerbread Man craps a JellyTotâ„¢, just to be specific FM! I love the Gingerbread Man, and they could be releasing Shrek 42 and I'd still be lining up to see it as long as the GBM had a few more juicy lines.

Away From Her is worth seeing. Dementia is a topic not often dealt with in the movies. Imagine your spouse of over 40 years not recognising you anymore... quite emotional.

The Namesake was also touching, although the anti-climactic ending almost ruined this powerful film.

The Lives of Others was probably the best film I've seen in the last few months... it was outstanding.

Most of the fillums I've seen in the past 15 years have been aboard either Air Canada 956 or Air Canada 849.

In the past two weeks I finally got to sleep through The Bourne Identity, Austin Powers - The Spy Who Shagged Me, The Painted Veil and some other thing, I forget ...

I watched The End of Suburbia this weekend. Now that was a great doc! It underscores all that is wrong with suburbia and the death spiral that has begun (with apologies to the MCC fans on this board).

Anyone seen Sicko yet? Comeents?

Yep!

Moore takes more of a back seat in this one and lets those victimized by the American system talk. When he leaves the US for Canada, the UK, France, and Cuba he steps in fron of the camera again and promotes what he likes best of our systems...

...which it seems, would be everything. He certainly managed to find some shorter Emergency waiting room lines in London than one would normally encounter in Toronto, so the Canadian system certainly gets an easy time of it, but he's really just trying to demystify socialist health care for Americans, and his points are well-made. Certainly the whole HMO situation south of the border looks rather scary.

Sicko is worth it for both the little bit of education you'll get, and for the laughs.

It's depressing how the Canadian National Post-type reporters followed him around Cannes angrily telling him that we're actually terrible, and America is much, much better.
