I'm surprised there is a lot of attention; I think the Queens Quay buildings have been marketed for a while with no takers (the 2 as part of Bayfront)

Progress, maybe?

They must have gone back to the drawing board given that after criticism over the uninspiring redesign, Menkes cancelled their Design Review Panel hearing and have been silent for months since.

Hopefully the sign for which they're applying for a permit has a render for a completely new design or a return to the more ambitious original design.

What gives you that impression? From the application, it amounts to nothing more than a "coming soon" sign. I see no (sign) of a redesign or going back to the drawing board.

Municipal entities seem to be systematically "refreshing" websites to make information and documents harder to find. I am not sure whether to think there is something nefarious going on, or they genuinely think they are making things "cleaner." I sent WT a message about the document library a few days ago. Everything used to be dated and in descending order by date. Now, random with most of the dates gone. No reply yet.

It isn't nearly as clean as the downright kindergarten Ontario website. The whole thing looks downright haiku.

So who wants to start the change.org petition imploring Menkes to significantly raise their architectural game in the city if they want to continue buying prominent pieces of land?

Gotta think this doesn't bode well for their massive site across and down the street...

The little lump on the end would have been significantly better if the fins (and mullions?) were a different, warmer colour than the rest of the building (bronze? corten? wood? black?).

Right now it mushes together into one undifferentiated 905-esque office block with all the white/silver.

So is Menkes skipping DRP and going straight ahead? Pretty shameless if they're doing that.
