Can't believe they are extending the existing slabs. Somehow it makes sense to them.

Are those LEDs and do they wrap around the entire buildings?

I've only seen them in white so I'm going to assume that they're not coloured LEDs and yes, they're on the other side too. Only the East tower was lit, while the other seems to be getting retrofitted with lights as well.

Looking at it in person, I kind of prefer them not to build a tower in the middle, but if they do, I'd rather it be short and glass so that some sky remains between the buildings. I'm ok with adding a few floors on top of the towers, something that forms a spire would look nice. Something like this:

Looks like the Gooderham Building turret on the tops of the buildings under hurricane winds.
 
That lighting looks phenomenal.

A few from the weekend; I'm pretty excited for the continued redevelopment of this site (new structure, continued enhancements to existing two structures, and clean-up/improvement of the cess pool in front).

The planning application meeting is June 15th, 7pm to 9pm at the Harbourfront Community Centre. It's interesting that the owners have yet to discuss any of this in anyway with the tenants.
 
There was already a pre-application meeting at the same venue a few months ago, and the owners were there to talk about it with anyone who wished to talk.

Harbourview at Cityplace is in danger of losing it’s view. LET'S DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

An application has been made to the city by Maple Leaf Quay to rezone the land between 350 and 390 Queens Quay to allow a 29 storey mixed use building. That building will sit directly in front of 5 Mariner Terrace and will effectively block any south views below the 29th level, as well as blocking the main harbour view for 3 Navy Wharf Court residents.

Because sight lines are not protected or guaranteed, an inundation of complaints from residents upset about their views may not sway the powers that be to deny the rezoning application. There are, however, a number of other arguments that might carry some weight. Given that the City of Toronto has mandated the improvement along the waterfront, we could argue that this proposal does anything but.
A building of this size, wedged between 350 and 390 Queens Quay would effectively cut more Toronto residents off from their waterfront. A tourist strolling east along Queens Quay would be deprived of the best view of the iconic CN Tower and Roger Centre (Skydome to us). The same view would be blocked for picture takers on the tour boats in the harbour. Instead they would be face to face with a wall that robs everyone of light and vista.

Bikers and joggers along the South Linear Park that is part of the waterfront trail will be faced with the “wall” as well.

And as for the residents of Harbourview Estates, chances are it will affect our property values.

So if you want to voice your opinion and stay abreast of what is happening during the process, here are some alternatives.

Send an email to our councillor Joe Cressey (councillor_cressy@toronto.ca) expressing your concern for how this building will adversely affect the waterfront, residents and tourists of Toronto.

Contact the Town Planner Michelle Knieriem at mknieri@toronto.ca or (416-338-2073 ). Voice your concerns about the proposed application and asked to be put on the list for any meetings or correspondence
concerning OPA & Rezoning 16 116138 STE 20 OZ - and go to the meetings. The more representation, the better our chances.

I don't quite remember what they look like before, but I love the red accents on these towers. I remember seeing them get put in last August/September, which was the first time I really noticed these buildings.

Gee... like the wall of glass that these people live in on the North side of the linear park? (Harbourview Estates)

Starting to hate the NIMBYism creeping up in CityPlace. It doesn't even try at not sounding NIMBY.
