Toronto Telus House - 25 York Street | 136.24m | 30s | Menkes | Sweeny &Co

MLS's towers are in the northeast and southwest corners of the block, so the west side of the Union tower will have the most clear space around it, and should therefore be the best place to locate the Telus logo, as shown in the rendering.

In somewhat unrelated but nevertheless exciting news, people have reported seeing Telus/Bell's GSM network when doing a network scan on their GSM phones! Hopefully it will be up and running by this summer and some customers will flow to Telus from the evil Rogers empire.

The Gardiner in that last pic is a demonstrating of how it will be irrelevant with regards to the alleged cutting the city off from the water.

Instead, the city is being built tightly around the Gardiner.

The black podium cladding being used on Telus and MLS is almost a (unintended) nod to the TD Centre, and the financial district. I like that, because it makes it look slightly more contextual as part of the traditional downtown, atleast until more is built south of the tracks.

if it could only be abadoned and remade into a linear park.....

*World Premiere*

The door beside the site was open so I was able to get some shots of the new south entrance to Union.

With Telus in the background

Still a little primitive at this point but I had mixed reactions. I felt that the room itself, while large, wasn't quite large enough to announce "Union Station." It felt kind of like a large, double height entrance to a mall. I could just picture a smelly, no-name, GO-station-esque coffee service along the west wall, which really was too much. I honestly hope this works out.

yep, seems a little disappointing right now but who knows really? it seems to have a skyroof, which is certainly interesting. this entrance might all be about the details and finishes. what if they put in terrific tiles on the floor, or cover the walls with a charcoal brick? maybe a mural? these are exciting possibilities. in any case, the entrance is utilitarian and given the busyness of the ttc, and the expanding downtown core, this new entrance is a welcome addition. again, this is the city's public sphere law working at its best.
