Toronto Ripley's Aquarium of Canada | 13.11m | 2s | Ripley Entertainment | B+H

There are only two options for any project in Toronto. It's either a "boring box", meaning any structure with flat glass walls with angles between them (the walls do not need to be vertical, form 90 degree angles with each other or even form a quadrilateral) or it's a "Dubai monstrosity". There are apparently no other choices.

No sane person would call this aquarium a "box", but then we are talking about people posting at UT, the sheer amount of negativity here is incredible. It is reaching the point where I am considering no longer visiting UT.

^Based on my observations if you're concerned about negativity Mongo your going to have to stop using the internet entirely ;).

Actually, based on the photos posted so far I think the projected is looking better than I would have expected. Although, my expectations have never been high for this one.

Are these fountains around the base of the tower? (those round cement blobs)

UT is the Grumpy Cat of forums. "I lived in Toronto once. It was awful!"

Here are a few pics a grabbed on Saturday.

CN Tower looking pretty haggard in that first pic. That's shameful.

I've mentioned that before too, it's pretty patchy all the way up to the observation deck. I've thought about it and have no idea what kind of project they could undertake to make it look more pleasing.

Such boring design...just another box with glass...yawn...

How can you tell? I think it's far too early to call this boring, if anything given the angles, the glass that's in and the way it hugs the tower I think it looks promising.

Come on, if it's anything special or out of the "box", it will be in the news already, a la ROM. It's just too simple and boring that it's pretty much same as many other glass buildings, like we need more of the same old same old stuff.

Please post a photo of a building in Toronto that the aquarium is "pretty much the same as"
