Cue Mr. "Save as much second rate architecture as possible" ...

Why would anyone who wasn't a industry shill write something like that? It's difficult enough to preserve heritage from the big-money backed forces of redevelopment. While I agree the one storey building underutilizes the site and is of no architectural significance, it is unlikely to go without taking the Lorne building with it. Like them or not, these buildings provide much needed variety and relief in a district being rammed with square footage.

And I'll strap myself to the Lorne building before a dozer gets to it.
 
The break in the balconies make the building feel less imposing. Nice scale to the street. It feels very urban and appropriate.

The spandrel looks cheap though. Is it the colour?
