What's worst than chicago? I have read an article about it.

"Drivers in the Chicago and Washington, D.C., metro areas spend the most time stuck in traffic, according to an annual analysis of the nation’s traffic trends.

Commuters in those two cities spent an average of 70 hours stuck in traffic in 2009, according to the 2010 Urban Mobility Report, published by the Texas Transportation Institute at Texas A&M University. "

Isn't our commute time 80 minutes on average right now? That would make it what like around 300 hours a year. Id say thats worse no?

Real work has finally started with the building of the foundation pad for the first tower crane by Yonge St. The crane should be going up the 2nd week in Sept, if not sooner.

Earth is being remove next to the shoring walls to the west section from the Yonge St Section.

I'm assuming you climb on to the fences or climb over them as well? I noticed that with Gibson Square, it's pretty difficult to get good photos of the site. I have went by on numerous occasions but could never get a good vantage point. May be a step stool is in order. :)

Nope!

Tall enough to reach over the fence and take a shot. Since I cannot see the live view on the Nikon D7000, it becomes a guessing game for the shot. The LCD is very poor in bright light and something Nikon going to have to address on future models. I had no problem with my Canon SX10 IS. That LCD swivel on the Canon.

Even being tall, I have issues trying getting shots here as well on other sites that I am not on.

a crane is up. Wow, so many construction sites along Yonge St: from Richmond Hill all the way down to the Lakeshore!

Took some shots of the site today and they are getting ready to pour the slab for the 2nd crane. The base is on site with the anchor to be place before the concrete is pour.

It is located where the 2 section divides.

A fair amount of columns and walls have been pour in the north eastern section.

The footing is half-done and the first level is done on the east side (close to Yonge). Hey, time is to move this project from "preparation" to "construction" list of the 400 footers!

Staring at many similar images over the years on UT, has anyone else thought this stage of constructions reminds one of a cemetery? Perhaps it's fitting that these "tombstones" are underground while the residents reside above ground, but the opposite is true after death...

maybe in our car-free future the underground parking space can serve its deceased tenants? A kind of a local cemetery? :)

Concrete was being pump for the 3 crane to the west of the 2nd one.

They should have the small amount dirt removed from the hole by year end.

Third crane is up as of this week. I guess its just for the podium portion as the towers are situated close on yonge and the other is on park home near yonge.
