I like Yorkville and I like King West, and both are upscale in different ways. King West definitely feels more 'hipster' and more casual where Yorkville definitely feels more 'establishment'. To be fair though, anecdotally speaking only of course, Yorkville is where i consistently encounter the most boorish and rude attitudes and behaviour in the city. Oh well, I can give as good as I receive, so no big deal.

I lived in Yorkville ( on Scollard ) in '77, and it certainly wasn't a "dump" then - it was already gentrified and trendy. It was the centre for Toronto's commercial art galleries, there were fancy eateries like Noodles and Three Small Rooms in the Windsor Arms, and Hazelton Lanes was open. It was the late '80s/early '90s when it tipped into decline.

I'm looking forward to this one. I think it's going to be a very handsome building.
