Toronto Eglinton Line 5 Crosstown West Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I love how they talked about a crossover platform for Renforth station for the Transitway. That is no simple connect or modification to the current station.

Did someone forget that there are bus ramps and bus layover bays on the north side of the current station???

If you are only using the southside side LRT platform as a crossover connect to the Transitway westbound platform, you still got stairs up to the street level in the way for opening day. Once the line gets extended to the airport, you have to either go under the LRT or over it to get to the plan centre platform.

If you want you catch a bus that used the southside of the current Transitway to go east on a GO bus or an northbound TTC bus, you will have to up and over or down and up for the Transitway to get to/from that south platform.

Not impress with the presentation or with staff been slow to respond to questions.

What's the name for that station as well the colour of it?

Tunnel 2 RFP November 2022 - From Jane Street to Mount Dennis Station

Does anyone know why it has been close to a year and the contract hasn't been executed? It was supposed to be executed between April - June 2023 lol

Elevated Guidelines Jane to Scarlett - Pre-qualification closed February 2022 - Anyone know why it hasn't progressed much still? What phase are they at

Tunnel 1 It has completed almost at 3/4 75%... I guess it is a 100% chance the main tunnel finishes before Eglinton LRT opens lol

Cost is over budget and no funds to cover it. Having a 2nd look that the project to see if there is a better and cheaper way to do it.

Cheaper way to do? How so? The 2 remaining contracts are for an elevated guideway (no cheaper way to do this) and a very short tunnel (no other way to do this section)... Is that you just guessing that they have no funds to cover it and Metrolinx is looking for a cheaper way to do it?

Gee ... I wonder if there was a cheaper way to build it from Royal York to Renforth. I can't possibly think of one ...
🤦‍♀️
Too late for that, maybe NDP / Liberal coalition fills up the tunnels like Mike Harris did 30 ish years ago lol... Wouldn't that be funny

Hard to imagine that they are irrevocably behind schedule or over budget already, given that station excavations have barely started, and the tunnelling drive is going well.

Of course, if they have discovered something, or if the contractor underbid or overpromised.....

Any source on this, or is it just speculation?
When tenders go out for bidding, there is a budget for it and in many cases, tenders came back over the budget.

Depending on the bidding lowest bid along with other, a review is done to see why the bids were over the budget, can we live with the lowest bid, did we miss something or do we look at other ways to try to get bids to the budget when it retender. In some cases, the lowest bidder is brought in and asked if there was a way to get their price lower and what would have to be done to do it.

Been on both side where a bid is higher than the budget

Things change as a tender is put together that has an impact on the budget from cost increasing for various thing, too much work in the marketplace that bidders will ask for a higher return to fit that bid into their overbooked backlog.

Then the funding of the budget may have change from having it to not having it or has to be moved down the roads costing a delay in awarding of a contract.
