Toronto 629 King Residences (was Thompson Residences) | 53.34m | 15s | Freed | Saucier + Perrotte

Photos are misleading, and oppressive is a really strong word. When you're actually walking on King Street you don't notice anything above the first few storeys. Even looking up, it feels like a maximum 8.

Not if you're looking from a few blocks away.

Not if you're looking from a few blocks away.

Does a building that appears 20 storeys from far away affect you that much differently than a building that appears to be 10 storeys?

How could the height of the building bother you when you aren't walking past it / from a distance?

23 August 2014: From afar, I call this the "I want a hug" building--looks like a cute quebecoise couple embracing at Jean-Talon :)

Up close, you barely notice it above the hoarding. (Of course, most of us are too busy staring at our stupid phones to see much of anything these days....)

Looks like the ceiling height is 8". I wonder if that was specified at pre-sales. Otherwise, many people will be very unhappy.

It should be 9' tall, it was in their sales material. At the prices they were selling these units for, it better be 9' tall!
Looks like they went with taller sliding doors without a transom window above for a cleaner looking façade, maybe that's why the floors appear shorter.

This is not an attractive building. It certainly doesn't come off as high-end or even distinctive. It has an "old hotel/motel" feel about it.

Please list the other buildings that this looks like, the ones which would prove your contention that this is not distinctive.
