Toronto 50 at Wellesley Station | 114.9m | 37s | Plaza | BDP Quadrangle

Wow, not even any type of branding, look, or cutesy name... or even a hint of what may be coming.

I wonder if things are starting to cool down with new condo sales downtown. Could Plazacorp just be trying to gauge the level of interest before putting too much effort into it?

odd

yeah it seems odd. with all the branding occurring for every condo out there...why put in no effort?

I actually like that.... "a condo on this site" as the name for the building.... very Post-modern.... lets do it.

Hello all, thank you for posting good info on this development. Could anybody post some news, or newer pictures? Is there anything going on with this area? Thanks a lot!

All that has happened is a temporary fence was taken down, and a more permanent fence erected in May.

40 Wellesley still standing?

Hey Geek, that was a quick reply! Thanks! Wonder if the building to the left of the one that was demolished is still there, I think is at no 40, or is also slated to be demolished? Were they planing to build the tower over all of them, or just over the 46? http://www.plazacorp.com still has no info, I wolder what they are waiting for. Thanks.

Yes, 40 Wellesley is still there. The offices have been mostly vacated for well over a year but a pharmacy and The Mix, a small variety store, still operate at ground level. The guys who lease the space at The Mix say they've heard nothing about having to vacate.
I thought there was a thread for 40 Wellesley, but I can't find it.
Here's an old Planning Report - http://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/2006/agendas/committees/te/te060404/it034.pdf

I'm pretty sure either 40 or 46 took the whole thing to the OMB, because one thought the other would impact the development potential of their site. As far as I know both developments are stalled until the OMB sorts it out

any word on this project ?? I walked by the site the other day and all I see is a PLAZACORP sign standing lonely on the rubble for a while now since the former building was demolished in September 2007

September 1 2007

September 25 2007... and at about 9:00 this morning

Sept. 27th 2007, 4:00-4:30pm update

the City Planning final staff report dates back from June 2005: http://www.toronto.ca/legdocs/2005/agendas/committees/te/te050705/it002.pdf

checking on Plazacorp's website today it still saids 'coming soon to 46 Wellesley Street East'

I guess this site will not be happening for a while:

46 WELLESLEY ST E
Ward 27 - South District
Associated Applications

OPA / Rezoning

Site plan approval for TEMPORARY SURFACE COMMERCIAL PARKING LOT - - To be reviewed with Site plan approval - 09 124893 STE 27 SA

Lovely. This site has been the Village's answer to 1 Bloor East. Maybe we shouldn't let developers go around knocking down perfectly good buildings until they're actually ready to build something in its place. The building that was there before wasn't mind-blowing, but it kicked the crap out of a parking lot.
