Why is there ground floor retail here? There is no other retail on the entire block to the west and most of the block to the east and north. It feels very isolated.

It'll probably end up being a high-end boutique-type place, like the Rimowa luggage store on St. Thomas just north of Sultan. I mean, it's also across from ground-floor commercial (professional offices, not retail) across the road so it's appropriate for the surroundings. Whether it'll actually be successful for the retail tenants, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Hats off to HP once again. 2 St. Thomas' use of stone is a classy complement to the building next door (is it the McKinsey Offices?). Though they seem to be short a few trees on Charles Street (as per the renders) the street level design on St. Thomas creates a relaxed and calming atmosphere.
They designed both.

Sort of. Siamak Hariri designed McKinsey. I assume David Pontarini did 2 St. Thomas. Kind of like 2 firms in partnership, with Siamak doing all the exquisite work and David doing the volume.
