Scott Pilgrim film takes on Toronto!

the world is abuzz. it's only gonna get crazier as the film's promotion machine revs up and more previews are released. type in "scott pilgrim" on google news. those who didn't know about the comics are in shock. those who did are giddy. apparently the apple website also crashed! this bodes well for the film's financial success.

It's on YouTube.

Some news.

- the New York Times talks about how the books are selling like gangbusters after the release of the trailer: http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2010/04/23/graphic-books-best-sellers-epic-epicness/

- an article about the film's PG-13 rating: http://www.comicbookmovie.com/fansites/tyko450/news/?a=17378

- the guardian, giddy that their Brit directors are finally getting some attention, talks about how Scott Pilgrim could be the next Kick-Ass. I think SP will be far more successful financially and critically, but we'll have to wait and see: http://www.guardian.co.uk/film/filmblog/2010/apr/22/scott-pilgrim-vs-the-world

- two early (and lengthy) reviews: http://www.firstshowing.net/2010/04/21/exclusive-two-glowing-scott-pilgrim-test-screening-reviews/

- chris evans had this to say about the shoot: "That was a fantastic time. My only frustration with that movie was that my part was so small. I was there in the beginning doing rehearsals and training with the cast, but then I left for about a month and a half. Then I came back and we filmed my character for about three weeks, maybe four, and then I left again, and they kept filming for another two months. It was so sad because I'd been having such an amazing time. That whole cast is so young. Everyone was under 30, and they're all so funny and so talented. Edgar (Wright) is such a riot. It's this broad comedy with a comic-book backdrop. It was fun and it was silly.

Edgar Wright, Michael Cera and the rest of the crew are returning to Toronto on May 15th for 3 days of additional photography.

The reshoots are taking place at the request of Wright. He claims that there is new material from Volume 6 that needed to be added and that some scenes required tweaking.

If you missed shooting the first time around, you have now been given a second chance. Think of this as your high-school love, who tragically moved away in the middle of all the romance, coming back to Toronto on vacation for only 3 days.
