Rob Ford's Toronto

Does Rob Ford seriously think a casino will provide the money to build a 6 to 8 billion dollar subway line or does he just think Ford Nation is stupid and he can pull the wool over their eyes? A casino won't even bring in a hundred million a year, so it's useless to build transit. We won't get a Downtown Relief Line with that kind of chump change.

From Toronto Sun.

TORONTO - Mayor Rob Ford has lost his bid to be reimbursed more than $116,000 in legal fees from Paul Magder after the Toronto resident failed in ousting him from the mayor's chair.

The Divisional Court found Magder raised "novel legal issues with respect to matters of public interest" and doesn't have to foot Ford's legal tab.

The court ruled that Ford and Magder should each pay their own legal costs.

In January, Ford won his appeal of the Magder-launched conflict-of-interest case.

Really looking forward to SAL's rant on this, especially after she made such a "case" as to why Magder should pay. Either that, or the Sun will just pretend that it didn't happen, like when he was found guilty of violating election financing laws.

Side topic, I've never watched it but I've heard the horror stories about Fox News, but are they really as bad as the Sun? The Sun's news reporting is beyond right, like they took an extra day to report on the NRA's Sandy Hook conference to develop a slant defending it! And in a news piece (not-editorial), they actually Photoshopped Miller's face green to make him look like a monster! And let's not forget after McGuinty was reelected, the front page headline was "WELCOME TO HELL"!

Would this be tolerated on Fox News or other Murdoch newspapers? Right now I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt, that their reporting is alright but their op-ed guys are biased idiots. Either way, I think what is most pathetic about the Sun is that they try too hard, and it just makes them look embarrassing.

Can a mod please explain why my last post was deleted? Are we not allowed to post comments critical of the liberal party on here? I really look forward to an explanation

- Stay on topic. Read the thread subject and previous postings carefully before replying to a topic. There is some room to move around in a thread but keep it to a minimum. We want to have a forum that provides knowledge to its members rather than a soapbox for people who just want to add to their post counts. We will warn you if we think you’re posting too often about nothing. Don’t take it personally. We just want the content to stay strong.Trolling
- No trolling, which is to say that a post or an ongoing series of posts of an antagonistic and disruptive nature, including borderline pathological attention to certain threads, which add little new perspective or information, and those which will only serve to needlessly and baselessly provoke a particular member or a group of members, are prohibited. An occasional harsh but fair comment would not be considered trolling.

You aren't exactly a first time violator of these rules. Besides, if I may be succinct, the record of your postings on UT can be summed up with:

a) Food carts/trucks
b) TCHC scandals/rents
c) Muslim immigrants (remember the bit about Halal food?)
d) Kathleen Wynne's CV

With all of the above constantly disrupting pre-existing topics, presented with hysteria and in a manner that amounts to trolling.

Didn't stop you from doing that ad nauseum in a manner that test the limits continually - besides, it wasn't like you haven't been banned before.

AoD -- Not that I agree with him on anything (and I got banned for saying so, lest I forget), Peepers' screeds against the police were jaw dropping: original, off his usual patch, not crazy. You need to give him credit for that!

Thanks for standing up for me RRR! We don't often agree on subjects but that is what a forum like this is all about. It would be pretty boring on here if everyone agreed with each other all the time.

I know that I often have contrary opinions on subjects but I feel I have made important contributions. For example my food-truck "crusade" was all about trying to get more food options downtown. Why should I be labelled a "troll" and banned for such posts? Yes, I have been almost obsessive in my postings on policing problems. Policing is a major issue for Toronto that is far more important then discussions about condo cladding. To be labelled a "troll" for my posts is something I find very offensive.

Those things... not trolling.

An image with Wynne as Kim Jong-il... that's trolling territory. As would a post of Harper as Hitler, which would certainly be deleted as well.

Look, a post was deleted because another mod determined that in order to keep discussion constructive and useful, we were better off without it. That's a what moderation is. If he didn't want you to post at all, he would have banned you. Clearly he does want you to remain on the forum, but has decided that antagonistic posts such as the premier as a totalitarian dictator are something we are better off without.

This is a thread about Rob Ford. I was commenting on his reaction to metro-link funding proposals and I said I preferred his reaction (retching) to that of Wynne who was pleased with the proposal. I then pointed out that we wouldn't need new funding for transit if the Liberals hadn't blown $Billions on boondoggles? I ended with a funny cartoon of "Kim Dong Wynne".

The same can be said for taxpayer-funded infrastructures sold by various levels of government such as the 407 by Harris or the Skydome by Rae or the dismantling of the Long Run Registry by Harper. They were all "boondoggles" committed by varying political parties and not just the Liberals.
