Rob Ford's Toronto

Rob relationship with his players, and his ward as a whole, was very much that of a fiefdom. He gave them scraps when they were hungry, while failing to activate, and often actively blocking, programs and services that would assist his peons in climbing out from hunger and poverty. If it didn't come from Rob, he didn't want them to have it, lest they become less dependent on him. That personal touch was a great way to build an army of blind peons who didn't/don't realize that there is another better way.

His very own Tonton Macoutes IOW.

Agree. Her world is closing in. For years, Diane has been the dowager queen of Etobicoke. But now Renata is also the widowed mother of a presumptive prince. (Renata's Constance to Diane's Eleanor of Aquitaine perhaps?) If Diane & Doug are busy sketching in the next generation of the Canadian Kennedys, then wee Dougie has significant value and he becomes Renata's meal ticket. She gets shelter in the palace but at a cost and she has to play by the royal rules.

Though when it comes to the *Fords'* world closing in, keep this in mind: by the time Dougie comes of age, Diane (should she still be around) will be 90 plus. And even now, she--*not* Doug--is the one person keeping the Deco empire stable against the grain of whatever offspring shenanigans. Once she's out of the picture, the gravitas is gone.

I was right, Doug's gone on tour. He talking to the CBC now:

"We have to carry on his legacy of helping people"

  2. David Rider ‏@dmrider 19m19 minutes ago
"It's too soon but we really feel we're responsible for helping people in Etobicoke North or anywhere in the city," said Doug Ford ...

    David Rider Retweeted CBC Toronto

CBC asked Doug Ford if he or Mike Ford hope to replace Rob in Ward 2 Etobicoke North

How Frank D'Angelo can you get.

You know the drill, folks. ABC--always be closing. Doug's first goal is to get bums in the seats for next week's extravaganza, and then turn those bums into support for his next "brilliant" political move.

Is there a bylaw that prohibits an 11 year-old from becoming co-mayor with his uncle?

So the circus will be over by mid-week and then the city can declare the seat vacant either at the end of this month or in early May. Then there is a 60-day period for council to announce whether there will be a by-election or an appointment. With Rob gone, Doug is considerably weakened. Over these next two or three months, does Doug have much remaining cred in terms of keeping his gob in front of the media? What's a wingman without a pilot?

^Clueless perhaps? Renata's a Sagittarius--we're smarter than you think we are. Maybe she simply doesn't care about the boring details of city politics?
Yeah, she posted that she was more interested in international politics.:rolleyes::rolleyes: And she was so articulate when she wrote that.

Putting Doug Ford in a councillor's chair for a couple of years without his brother to back him up is a better punishment than any I could come up with..

Heh, heh. Uh, yeah, but Dofo's hardly the only one being punished in that scenario. Why should the rest of us have to suffer by having him as a city councillor again?

Right now Doug Ford is like a typical scavenging raccoon asserting leadership. I can't wait for him to start urinating on the boundary markers of ward 2

and there will be big screen TVs set up outside the church for people who can't fit inside to watch. Ugh.

Yeah, I know that actually refers to *numbers* of people; but did anyone else first read that in terms of Wal-Mart Nation stereotypes? ;-)
