This event, or more like it need to get big. Real big. Like Nathan Phillips Square on New Years Even big. There's certainly enough opposition to Ford at this point. It needs to start with a solid core of people having a peaceful sit in the square in front of Ford's office then have people join in organized events with protests, maybe get some local artists to support it and perform outside the office, and eventually it'll gain a life of its own. Ford needs to go down Tahir Square style.

UT'ers, come on out! It was at 946 when I joined & hit "Going" about two hours ago, it's now up to 1333. If they get two or three thousand confirmed and half of them show up, that's a decent turn-out. If you support this event come on out plus put the link up on your FB page and/or send it out via twitter.

Hardly. It was a pathetic attempt at a fake. Should't take anyone more than a few seconds to see that. It also dosen't match the Gawker description.

The problem now lies in the fact that some people might see it, confuse it for the real thing, and become convinced that Gawker and the Star are lying.

I wonder what the next while will behold: the money is there for the video, now it comes down to getting it, which will be almost as daunting as the Crackstarter itself. Meanwhile, I still don't know what Ford could possibly have planned for the next while or so, other than just blustering about and shoring up his support.

I'd prefer to see him taken down by the system, and frog-marched out of City Hall in handcuffs -- that's the only way to convince (some) of his supporters, and it's less threatening to democratic institutions.

My rule of thumb with Facebook is take the number of people who are "going" to an event and divide it by 5. I'll start to be impressed when the number of people hits 5,000.

Our point is that the video in question has been subjectively judged real by three people who are accepted to have extremely high credibility to make that claim.

I have limited experience in video production. I can promise you that to fake the video described by Torstar and Gawker would be completely impractical to fake.

People who have much more experience than myself in the industry have also come to the same conclusion.

But I have a suspicion that you don't care what experts have to say.

More than three people actually. There should be reports with testimony of others who have seen the video in the coming days.

Creating a 90+ second video convincing enough to fool 3 reporters, at least 2 of which are VERY familiar with the subject and the sound of his voice, is not easy.... at all. Especially without the co-operation of the subject.

Yes, there's no video yet. But it sounds as though even his staff thinks this thing is real. The police seem to think so, too. We can't say for sure until we see it, but the tea leaves aren't hard to read here.

That's clearly the answer: Ford faked the video himself, just to embarrass the socialists! What a cunning plan!
