Rob Ford's Toronto

Hey guys, the Ford's have hosted over 100,000 people in their back yard. I think we should let him off the hook. That's a whole lot of BBQ to make!

And he's fighting for the little guys. It's Ford and the working class vs. evil leftist Bell Media.

And they've saved the taxpayers $1 Billion!

And stopped corruption! Because Toronto was so corrupted

in the CP24 interview, Doug said the G&M article has connections to the the unions and public socialist elites .... LMAO

And this all re-awakens that thing that made me go hmmmm some time back: the "closeness" btw/the Ford boys and the Chuvalo boys...

So with all his press appearances where he denied everything, didn't anyone point out how he could be denying Randy's court record of being charged with kidnapping?

Doug Ford: from hash dealer to powerful municipal leader. Nice turnaround story. I know a few Bay Street types with similarly admirable career trajectories.

The rest of the Globe piece actually portrays the mayor as a born leader with a strong work ethic and a high level of determination to succeed. If that's the best they've got on the mayor I think he's in the clear.

Was actually just thinking that. Of the spoiled Ford children, it sounds like Rob was the one which used sports as a means to keep straight and narrow next to his out of control siblings. While he may be a heavy drinker, any illicit drug use may be casual and infrequent - assuming that people aren't covering for him.

Rob Ford may see a boost in the polls thanks to the Globe and Mail.

When asked about Rob Ford's drug allegations I thought that his response was interesting. He reiterated the line "I've asked Rob three times and he's told me that he does not do drugs and is not an addict". When pushed on whether Rob has "ever" done drugs Doug said "he told me he has never done drugs" but the look in his face changed to an oh, did I just say that kind of look. That was my take on his facial expression after he made that last statement, as if his brain was re-calculating what he had just said.

Wait, what exactly are you trying to say? That the GTA should have had some kind of person higher than the mayor but lower than the premier?

Yes. The metro government, in my opinion, actually worked fairly well. The problem was that the city grew beyond the scope of Metro.

This is just my own opinion, but what I think may make the most sense (in a perfect world) is mayors (or ministers) of Toronto, North York, Etobicoke, Miss, Brampton, etc... with a regional "head of state".

As I said - I don't think amalgamation was necessarily a mistake, the mistake was the failure of the greater toronto services board (GTSB) that was established around the time of amalgamation to actually grow into a quasi regional government.

That's the irony isn't it. More and more, until recently, Rob Ford appears to have been the good kid.

Given there's been no polling since the whole crack think was revealed, then we'd never know. But I doubt it. Especially if the Star's story on his recent associations with drug dealers is printed this week as rumoured.

So with about 56 hours to go and $27,000 before reaching the target I suspect that Gawker will kick-in whatever is necessary at the last minute to bring the fund over the top. They have too much riding on this video not to. Unlike the Star that used very careful language saying the video "appears" to show Rob Ford "apparently" smoking crack - Gawker has called Ford "Toronto's crack smoking Mayor". Obtaining this video is their best defense against a defamation lawsuit which will cost far more than $27K. Also another thing to consider is Gawker will most likely own the rights to the video and I am sure that they can make a lot more than $27K off of the rights to this video. I can see it getting over 30 Million hits on Youtube. How much would that be worth to Gawker?

I don't think Gawkers reputation will be hurt too much by this. But we'll see what happens. They could donate the extra $20,000 (or whatever it is) to the Crackstarter and attempt to find the video owner. And if they can't find him, simply skim the $20,000 off the Crackstarter and donate the remaining amount to charity.

wasn't there a commenter on the indiegogo site that stated he would donate $50K?
can't recall his name but he's the owner of Modrobes.
