Rob Ford's Toronto

That's okay for someone like Hazel who is in great health but not so great for someone like Rob Ford. Cut him some slack. He's one elevated heart beat away from keeling over. Toronto would be lost without him.

Lost? LOST? hahahahaha *wipes tears from eyes*. How do you know 92 year old Hazel is in great health? How can you compare a woman in her 90's, who has clearly taken care of herself, to Rob's self induced obesity via gluttony? The point is he made zero effort to lead our city through a crisis. He MIGHT just MIGHT have been able to redeem himself slightly in the eyes of Torontonians had he acted like the Mayor he is supposed to be. We're more lost WITH him, for heaven's sake.

Obesity certainly didn't stop Gov. Chris Christie from doing his job during their crisis (a crisis far worse than ours, just stating a point).

Considering the time of day that the storm hit, the bigger question was how the fuck was he already at home in his driveway to begin with? It's bad enough that he was at home instead of at City Hall, but that he clearly skipped out of work early to get there?

We should just be thankful that he was in his own driveway with his children and not literally smoking crack in a crackhouse basement with other crackheads or literally hugging thugs in a crackhouse driveway or literally breaking traffic laws and endangering other motorists or literally buying cheap vodka to soothe the demons that haunt his soul or literally sexually assaulting people or literally getting thrown out of a public event for being too shitfaced or literally getting his head shaved to hide evidence of drug use or literally abusing his office for personal benefit.

The point is: Yes, he's still a subhuman idiot who -- when the chips are down -- does more to exacerbate problems than to solve them, but in the grand scheme of things, the fact that he was hiding in his SUV (if he actually was just hiding in his SUV and not actually smoking crack at 15 Windsor) is progress, people. Hooray for RoFo!

Again, it is the lowering of expectations. We now expect nothing from this mayor, and he certainly delivers. If we ever do really need someone to rally us together in a serious crisis, god help us all if it's left up to Rob Ford.

That is a very real concern that I've often thought of. Heaven help us if we ever get hit by a devastating storm (see Calgary), a terrorist event, a train derailment (Hazel was Mayor when that happened in her town) or any number of catastrophic events that require leadership. Heaven help us.

The people did not elect Rob Ford to talk to the cameras and dispense updates during a crisis. They elected Rob Ford to respect the taxpayer and fight waste at city hall. He's there to look after the pennies and dougnuts. He was at city hall today doing just that.

He reflected on it last night while talking to his family. He admits he's not perfect. That's all he can do.

Yes. He's clearly very good at looking after the doughnuts. Unless you meant Doug Nuts....

That's an awfully simplistic view of what a mayor should be doing. It's like settling for a basic tv package that only has one channel. Why not look at other ones that has the same channel, and even more?

I love your sarcasm Forgotten. For a second I thought you were being serious. But the fact that nobody is stupid enough to say what you did gave away the sarcasm.

Seriously, great job. Next time you're going to tell us Ford saved $Billions lol *nudge nudge

C'mon man. Forgotten was quite obviously being sarcastic. You guys need to learn to take a joke

For everyone but Forgotten: I'm being sarcastic about his sarcasm

Yes they did, they elected what they thought would be a mayor, a civic leader, that would protect their interests. The majority of Ford voters are property owners, AND it is in their interests to protect that property; why is it not his?

There is a difference between not being perfect and negligent.
