Roads: Six Points Interchange Reconfiguration (City of Toronto, UC)

I know that these are just growing pains, but there needs to be better signal coordination between the Bloor/Kipling and Dundas/Kipling traffic lights. It's too easy to get stuck in a bad timing loop during rush hour, when there are plenty of people lining up on Bloor to turn north onto Kipling, thus triggering the lights.

The lights are programmed for 35-second filters at Kipling/Dundas, but I'm hoping they let them go longer, considering there are no bus routes that need to travel straight east-west on Dundas, but there are three that travel north-south on Kipling through those lights (945, 45, 46). My transit commute has been noticeably slower during rush hour. I'm sure it will get better, but there are some crawling moments right now.

So much for the usual UT over-reaction a few weeks ago that it was all going to cause major headaches and confusion!

I have noticed from my birds eye view that Kipling southbound is heavily backed up daily except late evenings and Sundays.

I guess it will be like this till the rest of the road network is completed in 6-12 months (estimated).

I think if they opened even one more SB lane the backup would be much better. Watching from my own birdseye view, I see a lot of the backup caused by turning traffic.
 
^^^ I agree. The turning traffic is major factor in the back up. Add a long school bus or 18 wheel truck or 2 and it just snarls everything up.

Surprisingly, north bound traffic on Kipling is faring better but can get backed up also during the thick of rush hour.

Yeah I can't really see much of NB; my view stops at the intersection then picks up again at the top of the bridge (25 and 15 Viking are in the view), but even from that aspect, I don't see the traffic backing up onto the bridge much.

I would like to think that the one-lane situation is extremely temporary, but Bloor has been one lane for what, 2 years?
 
This year will be a mess for Kipling until it's fully rebuilt.

First thing that has to be done is remove any foundation of the bridges on the east side. Then is the removal of the earth for the ramps to bring it down to grade on both sides of Kipling. Once that is done, then the northbound lanes will be close with a single lane in each direction in the southbound lanes.

The northbound will be raise to match the top north end and the new elevation at the new Dundas intersection. A new sidewalk will be built as well along with a new intersection for the new Bloor road extension to the east.

Once the north lanes are ready to open, Bloor St on the west side will be close, forcing traffic to use Auckland Ave to get to Dundas to go south/north on Kipling. Traffic will be shift to the new northbound lanes. The southbound lanes as well Bloor will be raise to match the new elevation of the northbound and having a new intersection on the west side for the existing Bloor St, as well connecting to the new east road. This includes new sidewalks as well street lights.

Once completed, all 4 lanes on Kipling and Bloor will open.

The road that was off ramp road from Dundas to Bloor will be rebuilt as a new street that will connect with the new Dundas that will see a full intersection with traffic lights.

Dundas between this new intersection and Auckland will rebuilt with new sidewalks as new curb with the existing lands being shift south to match the new location.

Traffic lights at Auckland will be replace, with some work is taking place now.

A new Jopling Ave N intersection will be built.

Not sure if a new intersection will be built at this time for Acorn Ave that will the new access road to the new TTC Kipling Parking lot, as well a traffic light intersection.
