Premier Doug Ford's Ontario

The OLP will go through the same experience as the LPC after PM Paul Martin’s defeat to Harper in 2006, with a failed Dion attempt in 2008 followed by a failed Ignatieff attempt in 2011, before the LPC victory with Trudeau in 2015. If this bodes true, we‘ll see Del Duca claw the OLP from the brink, likely to the detriment of the NDP. The OLP will then toss him out and replace Del Duca with some woke, progressive academic type who will do even worse in the next election and be quickly tossed, followed by victory in the third attempt by a new leader when Ontarians are thoroughly tired of Ford.
Maybe so, but the likely outcome is if the Ford government wins a minority government, then that will be the beginning of a quick end for him . The opposition parties will have no inclination to support a Ford-led minority government.

Ford is relying heavily on advice from Kory Teneycke and Nick Kouvalis. So much so that Canadaland claims staffers are saying that it's Teneycke running the whole show. Kouvalis is the one pushing the lockdowns as a signal of Ford's "strength". For someone who says he doesn't care about polls, Kouvalis is doing a *lot* of polling in Ford's name.
They are, but it almost seems like autopilot the days, whether when it comes to Team Teneycke/Kouvalis or the Ontario Proud network. And as such, very vulnerable if exposed to sunlight as in the upcoming election...

If the fact that Kouvalis is both a Registered Lobbyist *and* Advisor to the Premier isn't brought up quite publicly, prefaced by one of Doug Ford's "I'm the least corrupt person on the planet" statements, I'll be pissed off.

I think it's more that they're out of new tricks. They're trying the same old BS expecting it to work, despite the effects of the pandemic on the public consciousness. It also appears as though the media might be pushing back on the manipulation. I do however, think they're still hard at work for their friends:

Not just out of new tricks, but caught btw/a rock and a hard place when it comes to how the, er, right-populist grassroots have *actually* handled the pandemic. (Again, like Doug's been outstripped by Krista on that front.)

I do however, think they're still hard at work for their friends:
That goes for whomever is in power. McGuinty ensured his pals got sweetheart wind turbine and other power contracts. Some might get into politics for the right reason, but any that reach the top all end up the same, pork and grift.

Sounds like you adhere to the cynical point of view, which appears to bring all manner of demagoguery to center stage.

You can't get to the top role of anything related to economic or political power without incentivizing those friends and potential rivals who can help you and kneecapping those who can compete with or threaten you. Mother Wynne, Justin Trudeau, Doug Ford, they're all the same in this regard. Those that don't understand or embrace this, such as I would argue Bob Rae in 1990-1995, are destined to quickly lose control of the narrative and flounder as those more Machiavellian-minded sense the vacuum and scramble for power and influence for themselves.

Ontario workers are demanding at least 10 paid sick days from employers

From link.

In the wake of the Omicron crisis, the Ford government needs to provide workers with 10 employer-paid sick days in Ontario, according to a group of more than 30 labour organizations.

In April, the province implemented the Ontario COVID-19 Worker Income Benefit, which required employers to give their staff three paid sick days for infectious disease emergency leave.
But most Ontarians still don't have access to paid sick days, the Ontario Federation of Labour said in a joint press release endorsed by more than 30 labour organizations.

"Too many workers must choose between going to work sick or staying home and losing pay," the statement reads. "When workers try to isolate, they can't access testing to show their employers they're sick."

They call on the Ford government to legislate a minimum of 10 permanent, employer-paid sick days. The group also called for 14 paid sick days during the pandemic, and for workers who contract COVID on the job to have greater access to WSIB support.

The demand for more sick days was part of an emergency appeal for the Ford government to take action to address the Omicron crisis.
"Ontario is continuing to face its worst public health crisis since the COVID-19 pandemic began," said Patty Coates, Ontario Federation of Labour president. "Our health care system remains in crisis, schools are still not equipped to protect students and education workers, and most Ontarians still do not have adequate paid sick days. This crisis is far from over. We need urgent action now."

They also asked the government to recall the legislature for an emergency session, repeal Bills 124 and 195. Bill 124 limits wage increases for registered nurses, nurse practitioners and health-care professionals to just one per cent per year.

Bill 195 extends and modifies emergency orders but also makes it easier for employers to override collective agreement provisions and the grievance arbitration procedure.

The joint statement also calls for an emergency summit of all stakeholders in the health care system, asks the government to ensure health care and educational institutions have protective equipment such as N95 masks and enhanced ventilation. They call for an emergency public health campaign.

The labour organizations included the Ontario Nurses' Association, Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario, and CUPE Ontario.

"Our province was in crisis before the Omicron surge, and things have only gotten worse," Coates added. "This government has continued to chronically underfund public services, and repeatedly failed people in this province. Their half-measures and empty rhetoric have only harmed Ontarians. It is far past time for real and meaningful action."

People have been calling for sick days since the start of the pandemic. It’s the one thing that Doug hasn’t really waffled on. Although his heart bleeds.
If Doug's heart bleeds, he may have a problem with finding medical staff to mend it. Then again, because it's Doug, he just might change his mind because it affects him.
