Premier Doug Ford's Ontario

A few Liberals deserted when McGuinty was seemingly done..........but Wynne then won a majority.

I'm not predicting that outcome (with Ford likely as leader anyway); rather, I'm suggesting one not over weight such moves.

Some are sincere.......... (politics wasn't such a good idea for me/have better offer)..............some are strategic (I'm not popular w/my constituents, I'm not popular w/the Premier; or the Premier may lose, and I want to be in a good position to run as his replacement).

Irrespective of which is which............the outcome of the next election is unlikely to be materially influenced by any of the departures to date.

Few people voted for any of the departing names.

They disproportionately voted 'for Ford' or 'Against Wynne'

Most of these names are not make it or brake it for the government, particularly if leaving quietly.
Some might have an eye on a federal run too. I suspect there's lots of turnover among the Conservative candidates in Ontario ridings that didn't go blue in the last election, and some of these retiring MPP's could easily slide in and run there for the next election, which is probably less than two years away.

As Premier Doug Ford's government prepares to open up the online gambling market in Ontario, there's a warning that its plans could see the province and municipalities lose out on hundreds of millions of dollars in annual revenue.

That warning is in a new report by a gambling industry consulting firm, obtained by CBC News. The report was prepared for Great Canadian Gaming, the company with the largest share of Ontario's casino market.

Even though Ontario will have a new source of revenue from taxing the newly regulated online gaming sites, the report argues that the province will end up short-changed. That's because it predicts a big shift in spending from land-based casinos to internet gaming.

Because the tax rate Ontario is expected to impose on online gambling sites is much lower than the percentage the government takes from casino spending, the report concludes that the province stands to lose out on $550 million in annual revenue for a total of $2.8 billion over the next five years.

So, the question is, how many on Ford's cabinet have links to corporations set to pounce on the online gambling market.

Doug Ford was out with his performative idea of damage control again, with a cameraperson to document it all.

A reminder that he likely spent more time doing this than he spent in the average Question Period in 2021.

Because that's what Premiers should focus on I guess.

Bonus points for sharing his car with strangers completely unmasked.

And using a kids size shovel to dig out cars…

When I first saw the new casts about Doug Ford driving people around, the first few thoughts that came to my head were:
  • doesn't he have more important things to do?
  • why is he even out driving around when police asked people to stay home?
  • holy crap!, they are sitting right beside him in the passenger seat and not in the back, and they aren't wearing masks ....
Who buys into this blatant PR stunt?

Apparently later in the day he's doing video conferencing/interview while driving?

Let me answer these, because Doug never will.

Yes. He does. As if meddling in Municipal politics isn't enough, he has to meddle in Municipal services, too.

why is he even out driving around when police asked people to stay home?
Because it makes for a great photo op on the day Angus Reid says you have your lowest approval rating yet.

$5 says Doug knows this guy IRL.

Hey, just like his brother reading while driving, it just shows how committed he is to the people of Ontario!

And there is more….
