PM Justin Trudeau's Canada

BTW as a long time Conservative donor I’ve written the Party to tell them I’m not giving another cent until they climb down from supporting a system completely opposed to their stated principles.

Respect.

PS: We don't ban all dairy from here and there. Today at Loblaws I was looking at some Kiwi butter. I was about to grab it to give it a go but.....15$ for 250g.
Ooooook.

This wouldn't exactly be surprising if in fact it were found to be the case.

Pretty hard not to, considering the CPC was initially hesitant to be supporting of Trudeau and figured some lame attacks on social media were a better course of action.

So how would the Canadian public view the Trudeau government after find out they spent the last year (and upcoming year) deliberately sabotaging trade talks just to help their 2019 election campaign.
I imagine the naive and gullible would support Trudeau, and based on their numbers, it might be enough to win.

I think the Carbon tax will turn into a major issue in the next election.

If Ford Cancels it in Ontario and then Trudeau imposes a tax on the province that may not go over to well.

I still think Trudeau wins the next election but I think he will certainly lose a lot of seats in Ontario, and out West.

Naive and gulliable isn’t that - it is someone who believe for one second that the leader down south will actually stand up for his allies and respect agreements he had signed. Believe otherwise? You should ask those who had been swindled by a “very successful businessman”.

Well given Trudeau's lie about electoral reform, he isn't very trustworthy, is he?

We don't have a carbon tax in Ontario. We have a shell game of credits.
I'm glad Ford is cancelling cap and trade in the hopes that he'll replace it with a carbon tax proppa.

.........lol, yeah, I can dream.

Cancelling the shell game is a good first start.

Oh yeah, unfortunately, that's where it will end.

I'd like to take this opportunity to proclaim my support for a proppa carbon tax as a daily driver who pumps 91+ octane fuel into his vehicle (currently ~1.60$/L).

Time to move on up. Real progress. Not that wishy-washy PC thought control rubbish that passes for "progressivism".

Progress means change, not socialism.

The fiscal conservative will turn over in their graves at this thought.

I find it interesting how Postmedia is begging Trudeau for bailout money, yet they attack him and side with Trump constantly.

Man, I'm still of the mind that we should just cut and run with these folk anyway. If I was the boss of bosses, Canada would be joining the EU and NAFTA would be an afterthought....and at this point, just a bad dream. The only problem is the mathematical formula for trade loss of value as distance to market increases but at least there'd be certainty. I reckon we have more in common with most of Europe than we do with our neighbours as far as socio-economics and politics are concerned.

I don't see why the distance between Europe and Canada would be that problematic. After all, London to Halifax distance-wise isn't that much greater than the Halifax to Vancouver distance. And the US had China not that many years ago surpass Canada as its largest trading partner even though it's an ocean away. There are many countries in the world whose largest trading partner isn't necessarily their geographically closest neighbour too.

While it's understandable that logistically, closer neighbours will trade more than distant countries, here's no reason why Canada has to be so lopsided towards one neighbour when it could diversify with so many other countries (even just in the western, industrialized world).

Agreed - free trade and free markets means no subsidies, and if the US won’t drop them then I’d reluctantly keep their dairy products out. Though if US taxpayers wanted to subsidize Canadian dairy consumers, one could make a decent case. But we ban dairy and poultry products from the whole world, not just the US. I believe NZ and Oz are completely free market in dairy at least, and I’d like the Government of Canada to stop denying you and me the freedom to buy their products.

How about fully free trade with countries with meat and dairy standards (in terms of health factors like use of antibiotics, hormones etc.) as strict as, or stricter than Canada's, but not with countries with lower standards.
