The IBM plant at Don Mills & Eglinton was built when the surrounding farm lands were just beginning to be converted into the community of Don Mills.

IBM plant was renamed Celestica in 1994 and was sold to Onex in 1996.

Then and Now for December 3, 2012.


Then. James and Albert [looking W along Albert]. 11:45am. Feb 20, 1913. Almost one hundred years ago. Eaton's Annex store on the right, City Hall on the left.

Now. April 2012. The Annex store came down sometime in the early 80s, I think.. replaced by an office complex used mostly by Bell Canada.

Actually, it came down after the 1977 fire (documented several other places in UT)
 
Albert Street 1919: Santa Claus arrives...on a giant fish:

Santa was very brave in those days - to climb those two ladders into Toyland.
The balcony with the photographers is interesting - even a motion picture cameraman capturing the event.

Don't think this elegant little building lasted too long. It seems to appear in the first pic below, but by the early 60's it's replaced by a mid-block parking lot:
