Metrolinx Unveils Next Wave of Big Move Projects

Obviously they are ripping you off :D

Hey, I'll take it, haha. As long as stuff that makes sense gets done. If one of my maps happens to float somewhere and makes its way in front of someone who can make a change, so much the better. I'm just interested in seeing an end result that makes sense, however that happens to come about. (Not that I'm suggesting that I directly or indirectly had anything to do with that. The odds of that are highly unlikely :p)

An Eglinton LRT extension to Square One. Hmm, that sounds... familiar :p...
I think extending to Mississauga is a reference to Phase 2 of Eglinton Crosstown going to Renforth/Eglinton to meet the BRT (that goes to Square One), and then turns north into the airport.

He was kind of vague about it, but he did talk about 'connecting' the Eglinton line to the Hurontario line. Does that mean connecting them via the Mississauga Transitway, or an LRT to LRT connection? Hard to tell.

Is the future 'Renforth Gateway' to be on the northwest or northeast side of Eglinton and Renforth? Because if it's northeast, it isn't technically Mississauga.

Upload it here. and then send it Maybe Wynne can push for this like the go service

Northwest. Actually the northeast corner of Commerce/Eglinton is a better description. See page 13 of the GO study looking at how to connect to the 427 - http://www.gotransit.com/public/en/improve/7953_Renforth_Gateway_PIC_June 2.pdf

If you look back at the original Eglinton Crosstown Environmental Project Report - http://www.toronto.ca/involved/projects/eglinton_crosstown_lrt/epr.htm they had stops at both Commerce and Renforth. The Renforth stop is literally just a stop in the middle of Eglinton at Renforth. It's the Commerce stop where the Crosstown LRT would have linked to the Mississauga BRT, at what they are now calling Renforth Gateway. See page 79 and 80 (page 4 and 5 of the PDF) at http://www.toronto.ca/involved/proj...oject-description-sections-3-5-1-to-3-5-6.pdf

I didn't see anything in his earlier comments to the Globe that questioned the Big Move, simply to improve some of them.

His statement from today is at http://news.ontario.ca/mto/en/2013/...nister-of-transportation-on-the-big-move.html - and it still says that "there is always room to make improvements over time in response to emerging needs and the views of communities and municipal partners."

I don't see the backtracking here that the Star is implying.

It doesn't have the Eglinton extension to Sq 1, but here's the most recent map that I have (not sure it should be posted here, but meh): https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/43869799/GTA System Map - To Scale_small.jpg

Thanks! I wasn't sure of the exact layout of the area.

The minister pledged that the projects currently under way – such as the Eglinton LRT in Toronto – must continue. But he said the way the lines are operated could be adjusted later if necessary.

Fully grade separated by elevation/trench and underground perhaps?

In the end, it doesn't really matter what he says. At this point, it would take a miracle for the Liberals to hold on to power or be reelected

I can go back to many quotes (from myself included) saying the exact same thing through most of 2011. It ain't over until it's over.

Ok I like this, except the decoupling of YUS. Other then that, all good. I assume 1 hour on GO lines except for lakeshore (30 mins)

The decoupling isn't for everybody. But yeah, 15 min service on GO REX lines, 30 min or 1hr service on non-REX GO lines.
