An Expo would be infinitely times better than an Oympics. Do we have a thread strictly for the prospect of a Toronto Expo on UT?

Where would you guys like it to be? I've heard ideas floating around of putting it in the Portlands, though I think it's too early for the Portlands to developed like that. Personally, I want to see Ontario Place revitalized (alongside the Exhibition grounds) into something spectacular, and to see the Waterfront West LRT finally built. If it takes an Expo to do it, then it will be worth it.

The thing about Expo's is that the majority of the buildings are temporary. The Portlands would be a perfect place for it, as the buildings won't be permanent, and won't interfere with development there.

I sympathize with them, as the rules are completely unfair... however, how the hell do you open a business and not do your research first? It annoys me when people fail to do their due diligence, and then complain about something that should have been known before opening/moving/spending money.

Your business is going to fail because you suck at running a business, not because of this law.

While most of Expo 67's buildings were temporary, they do have some still around. See link.

And La Ronde, the amusement area for Expo 67, is now Six Flag's La Ronde under a lease until 2065. See link. Don't think Canada's Wonderland would move down to the Port Lands.

Highly unlikely. However, improving Centreville Amusement park and the island parks while building a gondola from the Portlands would be a nice legacy.

Then again, we could be reigniting the whole "throw out the Wards Island squatters" situation again...

You know what, I am leaning more and more towards the throw them out camp. It's one thing to have the residents living in their leased home - it's another to have it rented out as summer cottages.
