GO Transit Fleet Equipment and other

On the CPTDB wiki, it is mentioned on the page for the Series VIII coaches that 2840 was the final coach built to the classic design, in February 2015, though the numbering goes up to 2857.


Can anyone in the know shed some light on what this means? Does this mean that the coaches were numbered out of building sequence, or was 2840 started in the correct sequence and just happened to be the coach that was physically completed last, like how CLRV 4000 was built in the correct order but was the last Swiss car to be delivered?

It’s not uncommon for vehicles to be delivered out of order. Happens all the time with buses.

Conceptual art as it may be, it looked too irresistible not to post here.

Although Metrolinx is planning to mainly stick to electric locomotive driven BiLevels, the high-station-density routes may needs EMUs eventually (e.g. Georgetown corridor).

I think by the time EMUs would be required MX would opt for single level EMUs (and probably those made by Alstom).

Also minor grievance I have is the lime and forest green on the render are flipped (MX trains have forest green on top, lime on the bottom).

LOL the guy built it as a mod for cities skylines, talk about fantasy designs.
 
You wouldn’t think it was that crazy back in 2018:
they were hedging on it before the pandemic took over and prices skyrocketed. id bet that was the main reason why they baulked in the end. thats what happens when the govt takes too long to make a decision. things get more expensive and either they increase the budget or they start value engineering things out.
 
I go on the route all the time on the freight trains but it's so cool seeing it from a passenger perspective
Maybe you're not allowed to answer this haha but I'm guessing there isn't much phone signal? I had 1 bar most of the trip when I was along it.

There's nowhere along that stretch that is anything approaching remote. Unless your carrier has spectacularly bad coverage along there (and therefore, along the north side of Steeles) you should have not had any cell service issues.
