The transformation of the former Galleria Mall into Almadev's Galleria on the Park community continues to take shape in Toronto’s Junction-Wallace Emerson neighbourhood, with the 31-storey Galleria III progressing at the southwest corner of Dufferin and Dupont streets. Designed by Hariri Pontarini Architects, the third building follows Galleria 01 & 02, which welcomed its first occupants late last year.
UrbanToronto last provided an update on this phase in April, 2024, when its podium was under construction. Now, the project is approaching topping off, with red-brick cladding having first been applied up in May and glazing having followed starting in August, 2024.
The view looking south in September, 2024 highlights progress at the time on the north elevation, with 17 storeys of the tower formed. Red brick panels have been installed across the lower floors of the podium, as well as glazing installed on the third floor.
By November, 2024, the tower was at 21 storeys, as seen here looking east along Dupont Street. Red brick panels clad the first seven storeys of the podium, framing the glazing, black spandrel, and mullions on the west elevation from floors three to six. Columns of projecting concrete balconies extend from the fourth to the seventh floors.
In late December, 2024, Galleria III ascended to 28 storeys, just three storeys plus mechanical penthouse shy of topping off. This aerial view, looking west, showcases the building's stepped flatiron design. Construction materials are staged atop the podium terrace. The construction hoist is visible along the south elevation, with its segments spanning the podium's first two floors and continuing up the tower. At grade, an eighteen-wheeler and stacked formwork are positioned by the hoist, delivering materials. On the south elevation's first two extra-height floors, black vertical and horizontal mullions are installed for the curtainwall glazing.
Looking northwest across Dufferin Street, glazing is installed up to the 15th floor, with blue and white weatherproofing materials lining portions of the facade up to the 19th floor.
Now in January, 2025, this street-level view across the intersection at Dufferin and Dupont highlights the curved massing and offers a closer view of the red brick panelling and glazing wrapping around the podium's signature rounded corner. At the tower's upper levels where concrete forming is underway, white and orange tarps drape the top floor.
Looking northeast from what currently remains of the Galleria shopping centre (it will be torn down after stores can move into the base of Galleria III), glazing is installed for the ten floors of the podium’s west volume. The massing transitions are clearly defined by multiple step-backs above the seventh floor, creating a layered progression from podium to tower. At the tower’s upper levels, wooden formwork is seen on the west side of the 29th floor.
Galleria III will stand 112.4m tall, offering 427 condominium units as part of the larger Galleria on the Park community, which will house eight towers and over 3,000 units.
