Metrolinx recently concluded the third round of virtual open houses for the GO Expansion Program. The
GO Rail Network Electrification Project is one component of the broader GO Expansion program. Specifically, the purpose of this Environmental Project Report (EPR) Addendum is to assess additional electrification infrastructure required for new/upgraded tracks and layover facilities (which were studied as part of separate Metrolinx undertakings: “New Track & Facilities TPAP” and “Scarborough Junction Grade Separation TPAP”) proposed across various portions of the GO Rail Network and as such were not previously examined as part of the 2017 GO Rail Network Electrification Project TPAP.
We now are providing an update to the consultation materials posted during the recent Open House to include information about the Don Fleet Junction scope of work.
As part of GO Expansion, Metrolinx is working with Hydro One (as EA Co-Proponents) to define areas in the vicinity of Metrolinx rail corridors where proposed electrification infrastructure will conflict with existing Hydro One transmission lines, and to establish Environmental Assessment requirements for the new conflict solutions that were not previously assessed as part of the 2017 GO Rail Network Electrification EPR.
The purpose of this consultation is to provide updates regarding the proposed scope of work at the existing and new Don Fleet Junction. Proposed works at the Don Fleet Junction (JCT) are required to support the resolution of Hydro One conflicts within the Union Station Rail Corridor (USRC) and surrounding area previously presented as part of PIC # 3. Upgrades to the existing Don Fleet JCT (east side of Lower Don Trail) and construction of the new Don Fleet JCT (west side of Lower Don Trail) are required for the transition of the underground transmission circuits to overhead circuits. Please refer to the attached Figures.
The updates to the GO Rail Network Electrification Project regarding Don Fleet Junction have been posted on Metrolinx Engage
here. The public review period for the Don Fleet Junction update is from
February 2 to 11, 2021. During this period, we encourage all stakeholders to review the updates and share any questions and provide feedback to
TorontoEast@metrolinx.com (East of Don River) and
TorontoWest@metrolinx.com (West of Don River).
