Brampton Transit/Zum

January service changes are out, and there isn't too much. I suspect they still have to hire more drivers. A few new trips on the busier routes, and new midday/early evening service on Route 81 into Caledon.

501 Züm Queen
  • Weekday PM westbound trips added from Smart Centres Bus Terminal at 3:46pm and 4:12pm.
505/505A Züm Bovaird
  • Weekday, Saturday and Sunday schedules adjusted to improve service reliability.
1A Queen
  • Weekday schedules adjusted to improve service reliability.
3 McLaughlin
  • Weekday AM southbound trips added at 4:07am, 4:22am, 4:37am from Heart Lake Terminal.
  • Weekday PM peak service to start at 1:00pm.
8 Centre
  • Additional Weekday westbound trip departing Bramalea City Centre at 4:40am.
11 Steeles
  • Additional Sunday westbound trip departing Humber College at 10:27pm.
14 Torbram
  • Additional Weekday AM southbound trip from Torbram Road and Father Tobin Road at 4:28am.
15A Bramalea
  • Additional Weekday AM southbound trip from Countryside Drive and Bramalea Road at 5:50am.
23 Sandalwood
  • Weekday PM service to start at 2:00pm.
26 Mount Pleasant
  • New Sunday service added, operating from 8:00am-8:00pm every 50 minutes.
29 Williams
  • Weekday PM peak service will start at 2:00pm.
  • Additional Weekday AM eastbound trip from Mount Pleasant GO added at 7:30am.
30 Airport Road
  • Weekday schedules adjusted to improve service reliability.
31 McVean
  • Weekday schedules adjusted to improve service reliability.
50A Gore Road
  • Route realigned via Countryside Drive and John Carroll Drive.
  • Weekday service extended until midnight.
57 Charolais
  • Weekday schedules adjusted to improve service reliability.
81 Mayfield West (Caledon)
  • New midday service added.
  • Service extended until 8:30pm.
200 Secondary School Specials
  • Routes 200, 201, 202, 203, 204, 205, 206, 207, 208, 209, 211, 212, 213, 214, 215, 216 and 217 resume.
218 Heart Lake School Special (NEW)
  • New school special route with service from Heart Lake Terminal to Heart Lake Secondary School.
  • One trip departing Heart Lake Terminal at 7:50am and one trip departing Heart Lake Secondary School at 2:25pm
 
For what it is, its not bad and I'm glad we're seeing 23 and 29 start their peak service earlier again as it is much needed especially with the residential ridership these corridors get.

50A going until midnight is nice and 81 being an all day thing now gives hope that there might be further possibility of expansion into Caledon, which will further be proven when that Bolton service hopefully starts in a few months from now.

They need to prioritize the 505 more as ridership has insanely skyrocketed for it. Short buses and service ending much earlier than the other Zum routes just does not cut it at all.
 
Nice to see 4:28am added to Torbram 14. Useful to catch early flights.
Airport/Derry has been improved with massive Miway shelters on both sides similar to below. These are being deployed across more intersections on Derry.
Now my luggage will stay dry when changing with the 115 Airport Express.

Here's a horrible attempt from MiWay at providing shelters on Derry at Malton GO




Most of these folks cross the chaos at Derry onto the 14 Torbram to Brampton after a GO Train lets them off at Malton every half hour.
The station also has zero sidewalks for them to reach this stop. LIke playing human Frogger in an open parking lot to reach the bus stop.

At least the Mayoral Candidates in Mississauga responded. I hope this results in corrective action.

MiWay needs to make Derry a Zum equivalent, while they study a full BRT line

They already somewhat did that, with the 104 Derry Express. Ever since the pandemic it has yet to make a comeback and it probably never will because of that decision with that Sheridan College-Westwood route which acts as another branch to the normal 42 Derry route (which kind of made service on Derry worse imo).
 
I've got a question for anyone here that is good with documentation.

I have the Request to Begin Procurement -– Chinguacousy Züm andCycling Infrastructure Improvements - Wards 2, 4, 5, and 6 which is for the 504 Zum.

What I'm actually looking for is the documentation that was floating around showing each of the bus stops and the planned changes to the intersections. If any of you have it, could you please share it here with me if you haven't already? Thanks in advance. :)
