Bloordale Village

The retail scene thriving pretty well along Bloordale right now. Saturday night out and the patios and inside of the Three Speed, Bar Neon, Seoul Shakers, Burdock brewery, Sugo were all mostly packed. The John (formerly the Jim) is a bit quieter than the others but is a solid casual dive hang out. I forgot which intersection corner but a new Latin American food mart is setting up to open soon somewhere on the side closer to Lansdowne. A couple newer looking businesses looked to have opened along the stretch too.

I think I saw the signs for this today on the former fire-damaged Dosa Mahal space at Emerson. I'm really happy to see that retail gap filled in.

Reposting this video here to archive the memory of Bloordale Beach:

I like this streetscape view of Bloor West & St. Clarens corner with the walk up apartment buildings:

It is nice; now just cut the height of the fence on the right, and make it black; replace the asphalt with interlocking brick, replace the concrete between the trees open-soil and native ground covers, and add just one really nice
bench on each side of the street and it will be just so!

Or remove the fence altogether, perhaps! An ugly chain link fence on the other side of St Clarens was removed sometime between 2011 and 2014. It used to look like this:

I'm amused that I think I was just called out for being insufficiently ambitious! LOL

Not on Bloor Street, but I'll place these here since Wallace-Emerson is the primarily residential area directly north of Bloordale:

An additional floor is being built above this building along Lansdowne just south of Wallace:

While north of the intersection on the east side of Lansdowne, there's this multi-unit dwelling finishing up:

And then back on the west side of Lansdowne a bit further up, this former religious building is being turned into residential usage:

Some more minor multi-unit building work happening in the Wallace Emerson area.

19 Wallace Ave, would be the corner property at Russett Ave, one block west of Dufferin:

19 WALLACE AVE
Ward 9: Davenport

To construct front two storey addition, interior alteration to existing dwelling, rear deck for two unit dwellings

Fun fact, I once viewed a rental listing at this address, so I've actually seen the inside of this house. It was not nice at the time.

Apparently, the morality of the community would be adversely affected by allowing the local Pizza Pizza to sell beer and/or wine.

I say this, because Councillor Bailao has an urgent motion before Council to oppose a liquor license application at said premises.

Anyone have insight into why this would be an issue?'

Motion linked below:

Some small scaled intensification on Lansdowne just south of Bloor:

627 LANSDOWNE AVE
Ward 9: Davenport

Proposal to convert existing single family dwelling to a fourplex (4 units) with an addition to the existing 3rd floor and 2 storey rear addition. Existing rear garage to be demolished.

I saw a mobile truck crane lift at the site of 77 Wade Ave today and was curious if there's some work happening here. But turns out it was just for moving around building materials for nearby construction related activity. Presumably for work along the railway.
