The crane is being set up on Temperance Street. Hopefully this will mean that this building will finally start to take shape.

Cranes On The Rise

The crane is on the rise. I'll try to catch some pics now and then

I was quite happy to see them proping up the first section on Temperance this moring before they lifted it into the pit. I remember watching them taking the two cranes out of the core of the old BAC back in the fall of 1993...

Odd Crane

This is the oddest thing I've ever seen. The crane is not embedded into anything. It's sitting inside the foundation on a platform with 4 legs outstretched like some giant camera stand. I imagine it will end up like any other crane as time goes by, but right now it's really odd.

I seem to have trouble posting pics - have in the past at any rate. Is there someone who can host these? If so, send me an email and I'll get them to ya when I get home.

Interesting. Though, as I understand it, tower cranes are only bolted to the foundations at the start of the job; as towers rise, they wedge themselves in the structure, sitting on the upper floors...

Mighty big crane. Though it's hard not to notice how much thinner the walls of that core are compared to the stump of yore...

This is just a monster thread and I couldn't get all through it. My question is whether the rumoured Manulife Tower might be part of this BA project as a lead tenant in a subsequent building? I know other locations have been speculated on, but why not here?

Might have something to do with the passage of 17 years of time, and improved technology. But that is just my guess.

Manulife dabbles in real estate investment so I seriously doubt they would ever choose to be a lead tenant for someone else
