And how do we make up the lost revenue? Just cut health care perhaps?

FWIW, I'm not sure it gets passed if they're doing it via legislation.

They've got about 4 weeks left before the legislature recesses for the election.

Getting bills through at the point, particularly if the opposition is not cooperative could be a challenge.

I'm not convinced they actually get the budget passed seeing as they haven't even announced a date for it yet.

I hate election season. 6 months gas tax cut!

Yeah, they amended a law in order to give themselves until April 30, though they haven't actually said that will be the day yet.

Needless to say, if the budget is on April 30, there's virtually no chance it passes before the legislature is dissolved.

It's worth noting that there might be *a* familial connection E of the Humber: in 2010, in Ward 17 vs Cesar Palacio, there was one Ben Stirpe who finished 4th w/5%, and he boasted of his endorsement of Rob Ford on his election signs...

They have issued a media release. People will think it’s a done deal. 😡 https://news.ontario.ca/en/release/...to-provide-relief-for-businesses-and-families

Opposition parties going to have a time opposing this one when gas prices are such a hot topic these days.

Parties pander because it works. See the federal Liberal mailing out cheques to senior just before the election last year. Special one-time payment for the cohort that is struggling the least economically in Canada.

NDP seem like the masters of promising eating cake and having it to.

It's evil developers fault for sprawling through the greenbelt. Everyone should be able to live in an affordable home. We shouldn't build density.

I was listening to Jon Stewart recently talking about evil corporations earning profits. Socialists just don't get it: profits aren't evil. They are what motivates people to make things happen. They can be amoral so profit motives need to be constrained and channeled, but it is a very powerful tool for allocating resources efficiently.

This. The three major parties all substantially rejecting the recommendations of the Housing Taskforce is truly incredible and horrific. I won't be voting for any of them.
