    Metrolinx: Presto Fare Card

It was only a matter of time, but Presto double charged me tonight. Boarded a 504 eastbound at yonge and got off at broadview to transfer to a 501 and continue east along Queen. According to Nextbus the next 501 was 14 minutes away, but fortunately the 504 car following was signed "Queen &...

    Toronto Maple Leaf Square | 185.92m | 54s | Lanterra | KPMB

As a resident of the neighbourhood this Longo's is a welcome addition. Their FCP and Brookfield locations are not full size stores, just their "Market by Longo's" concept. This store will be nearly 50,000 sq ft, far bigger than either of those, or the Sobey's on Queen's Quay, or any Rabba.

Toronto Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport | ?m | ?s | Ports Toronto | Arup

Not likely, as Continental is joining Star Alliance next month. If AC really wanted to get rid of Porter, they'd have Jazz flights running to YUL/YOW, and AC codeshares on Continental metal running to various US destinations. But of course there's not enough terminal space or landing slots for...

    Next Mayor of Toronto?

In that sense it's a smart move by Miller. Knowing that he would probably lose to a strong centre-right candidate, the only chance for the left to keep the office is to have someone else run.

You'd be surprised I think. Not sure about the public sector but most of my peers (banking, accounting, etc.) are allowed to fly T+ as it is usually a marginal price difference a provides a nice benefit for the employee that is stuck on the road all the time. At my company for example, our...

^ In fairness, not many frequent flyers purchase AC Tango fares. Tango Plus is pretty well the standard for every business traveler I know due to the ability to earn AC status miles. As well, a high percentage of frequent travelers in the triangle are AC elite members, which gives them free...

    Blue Jays

I agree that JP is a terrible GM and has to go. In his eight years they have never played a meaningful game in September. Not one. In 2006 they were out of it by mid-July. Sure they went on a bit of a run after the pressure was off and made their end of season record look ok, but at no point did...

Here's a few shots I took during the thunderstorm last night:

    Downtown Yonge

Agreed. I love that they serve the beer in litre steins like in Europe, not sure why more places in the city don't do that. $8.75 for a litre is pretty decent too, you pay nearly that for a pint in most places. Can't really comment on the food as I was in there late and we only had the nachos...

Will Ignatieff Defeat the Government Today?

lol, and how do you know what Canadians want? Most of the polls I've seen the last two months have shown Canadians clearly don't want that farce of a coalition. Iggy is doing what is best for the Liberal party by supporting the budget, plain and simple.

    Toronto Telus House - 25 York Street | 136.24m | 30s | Menkes | Sweeny &Co

Looks like there was an incident at the Telus site tonight. There's currently 7 fire trucks parked on Bremner and York streets, along with several police cars and ambulances, including one of those ambu-buses. Hopefully no one was hurt. Smoke and some brief flames could be seen coming from about...

    Liberal-NDP Coalition

Iggy will keep up the appearance of the coalition for now in order to extract some budgetary 'goodies' from Harper. Then when the time comes he will allow it to pass so that he can get to work on the task of returning the Liberals to respectability.

GO Transit: Union Station Shed Replacement & Track Upgrades (Zeidler)

You're correct. The Raptors proposed the ACC and then went ahead with it after failing to reach an agreement with the Leafs regarding a lease or shared ownership. The Leafs then proposed this alternative, but soon after ended up buying the Raptors instead and taking over the ACC.

Condo buyers should prepare for 'phantom' rent

Actually the developer pays you interest for the funds held in trust, albeit a small amount (you should see this in the closing documents as a credit back to you). The interest portion of occupancy fees is on the unpaid balance. For example, if you bought a $200,000 condo and paid $50,000 up...

    York Street Pedestrian Promenade Plan

Looks like they might have finally started work on this. I can't find any more mention of it on the city website but I can report York Street is currently closed between Bremner and Lakeshore and they've torn up the northeast and northwest corners of the York/Lakeshore/Gardiner Ramp...

^ Still 4 or 5 floors to go I think. It should probably be topped-out by Christmas.

Condo buyers should prepare for 'phantom' rent

Interest on the unpaid balance is the largest component of occupancy fees, so an all cash buyer could certainly pay less if they chose to pay it all up front. They'd have to evaluate whether the savings in occupancy fees would be more than what they could otherwise earn with that cash. Nice...
