    Toronto The One | 328.4m | 91s | Mizrahi Developments | Foster + Partners

Property values only go up especially in Toronto. Once this is finished and it becomes an Icon in Toronto, its potential market value will be well north of $2B. Stuff like this happens all the time.

how long until toronto surpasses chicago on skyscrapers?

A couple of reasons of the building boom in Toronto is the zoning laws which leaves a small parcel land to be developed as high rises so there is intense concentration of high rises in those areas. Second is the growing population of Toronto due to immigration which means there is always more...

how long until toronto surpasses chicago on skyscrapers?

New York skyline will be hard for Toronto to beat. We should surpass Chicago in about 10 years or so or 2035. New York is a different beast. Probably take us till 2100 to do so but even then, New York skyline will still be more iconic. I am happy with Toronto being 2nd to New York in North America.

Whats the hold up? No Shadow issues that I know of and it's at the tip of Yonge Street...so makes an impressive mark having the tallest building of Canada located at the beginning of Yonge Street. Let's make this tall.

    Toronto Rogers Centre Renovations | ?m | ?s | Toronto Blue Jays | Populous

Rogers Center is the most stupidest name for a Stadium. They could have called Rogers Skydome or something. Rogers Center sounds like a Computer Repair Shop.

how long until toronto surpasses chicago on skyscrapers?

Let's just keep the comparison to City of Toronto vs City of Chicago and leave the suburbs out of it

    Mississauga 180 Burnhamthorpe Road West | 230.15m | 71s | Emblem Developments | Arcadis

Mississauga developed as a commuter suburb of Toronto. With population growth it has a developing downtown core. I think Hurontario LRT will create more transit options. But to go anywhere in Mississauga you need a car. If Milton Line adds a stop at MCC and becomes all day two way Line like...

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

I am talking about the areas around it. The areas under the elevated portions became un-used and polluted. Similar to the areas under the Gardiner Expressway.

    Toronto Pinnacle One Yonge | 345.5m | 105s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

One of the things I love about GTA is all the clusters of highrises scattered all over. From Downtown Toronto, Midtown, North York, Harbour Front, Vaughn Downtown, Mississauga Downtown. Gives the city a very Asian feel like Tokyo or Bangkok. Unlike any city in North America.

    Richmond Hill Yonge Line 1 North Subway Extension | ?m | ?s | Metrolinx

Elevated subways are an eye sore and create lots of noise, shadows and pollution

    Toronto Pinnacle One Yonge | 345.5m | 105s | Pinnacle | Hariri Pontarini

Once all the under construction and proposed/approved buildings over 150 meters get built, our skyline will be as big as Chicago. Probably by 2035.

    Canadian airline industry (general discussion)

Its so bizarre that it is cheaper to fly from Toronto to Europe than flying from Toronto to Calgary or Vancouver.
