Condo walls for hanging flatscreen TV?

Sure sounds like it.. So I'm guessing this is a wall between your suite and your neighbour?

Condo walls for hanging flatscreen TV?

I wouldn't get too hung up on the metal stud thing. It's not as bad as it may seem. Together as a wall it's quite strong. It is holding up all that (heavy) drywall after all. It's like a egg. From one side it's fragile, from the other side it's very strong. Once the wall is built, it's not...

Condo walls for hanging flatscreen TV?

What do you mean it can't be used with metal studs? They don't make mounts based on what type of stud you have. As for the electrical, most likely there's wiring going straight up from your plug but it's possible it snakes. But I wouldn't get too hung up on it. It's in conduit (or wire)...

Condo walls for hanging flatscreen TV?

I believe I wrote that.. but that's drywall screws into the studs.. It's still in combination with other several other anchors so it's not going anywhere. I wouldn't trust just a couple of screws into metal studs for support either.

Condo walls for hanging flatscreen TV?

The toggle part is pushed into the wall after it's been slightly attached to the bolt/screw. Once inside it opens then you pull the screw a bit as you tighten it. The toggle part bites into the wall.

If you have the ability to attach the toggle from behind, then you might has well put plywood between the studs :)

Condo walls for hanging flatscreen TV?

I never considered putting toggle bolts through a stud before.. that's not a bad idea.. but what I have done in teh past is put toggle bolts through the drywall area.. I used drywall screws on the stud part..

Condo walls for hanging flatscreen TV?

Basically drywall screws. Wood is much better to mount on, but you have to work with what you got. Put at least a couple of screws into each stud and use a bunch of toggle bolts (butterfly bolts) in the drywall area. That's pretty much as good as you can do without cutting open the drywall.

Condo walls for hanging flatscreen TV?

No way in hell would I mount a TV on drywall alone. Even the instructions will tell you for the mount that you must fasten to at least one stud. If there's ever a leak and the drywall gets damp, goodbye TV.

I'd be shocked if it wasn't

Condo walls for hanging flatscreen TV?

If you're talking about high rise, it's metal studs. If it were me, I wouldn't put a monster TV on unless I was positive I was screwing into at least 2 studs. Even then I think I'd prefer to have a wood backing in there for the bracket. Best case if you have a wall next to an adjacent unit...

    Maximum number of elevators?

I'm living in a new condo that's still partially under construction. We've got a real issue during the day with trades using the elevators and having to wait ages. We have 3 elevators but one of them has not been working for a couple of weeks. One of my neighbours told me that when she...

    Occupancy Fees and tax returns

I think it's on the Ontario part where it asked you how much property tax/rent you paid in the previous year.

    Occupancy Fees and tax returns

When you are paying occupancy fees, do you mark down what you paid as "rent" on the following years tax return?

Fair enough.. but you may still be able to get cable internet with teksavvy. They use rogers system.

    M1 + M2 + Metropolis + Parkside Condos (Liberty Development) - Real Estate -

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure that the CRTC several years ago ruled that exclusive contracts are not allowed. Availability is a different story.. but you should be able to tell on the bell website with your postal code if there is availability. Alternatively, you may be able to get cable...

    New condos and increased budgets

Jaybee: I'm talking about the maintainance portion of occupancy fees.. I expect fees to rise after occupancy, but during occupancy I feel it should be what the builder quoted (or at least very close).. Dan: I'm talking about iLoft which I'm about to move into.. when I purchased in 2006 the...

    New condos and increased budgets

Does anyone know (if possible, links to something concrete) how much a builder is allowed to increase a budget for a newly occupied condo? There has to be a limit to stop builders offering amazing condo fee rates to then jack them up when the building is complete.
